Even Fang Qin worried about her son’s injury and advised him to wait until the wound healed completely before moving into school.
So Ji Chi continued staying temporarily at the Su household. After military training ended, he would move into the school dormitory — by then, the wound on his forehead would definitely be healed.
Mother Su saw her daughter and Ji Chi returning one after the other. Her eyes landed on the military training uniforms in their hands, and she couldn’t help but smile. “You’re back. Tired? Sit down and rest for a bit.”
Su Ci wasn’t physically tired, she was mentally exhausted.
She sat beside Mother Su, took the juice the servant handed her, took a few sips in a row, and finally said, “Must I really go to military training tomorrow?”
Just imagining being roasted under the vicious sun made her feel miserable.
Mother Su had always pampered her daughter and didn’t want her to suffer, but her husband had said that Cici’s body was delicate, and military training could strengthen her body, improve her physical fitness, and also train her willpower — it would be good for her.
Since every other college student participated, their daughter shouldn’t be too spoiled to join such a group activity.
“Cici, just experience it. Fifteen days will pass quickly.” Mother Su gently touched her daughter’s smooth, long hair. She picked up the military training uniform placed to the side. “Have you tried this on? Does it fit?”
Su Ci shook her head. “I just took it based on the size chart. I didn’t try it on.”
She had a small frame. As long as it was a small size, she could wear it. Besides, these military training uniforms tended to run large.
“I haven’t seen what you look like in camouflage before. Try it on and see if it fits, in case it needs any adjustments.” If it didn’t fit, she could have someone alter it overnight.
Su Ci nodded. She was also curious about how she would look in uniform.
“Xiao Chi, you go try yours on too.” Mother Su said to Ji Chi, who was sitting across from her. “And change into the shoes as well, see if they fit.”
“Okay.” Ji Chi took the clothes and went upstairs to change.
By the time Ji Chi came back downstairs wearing the uniform, Little Su Ning and Little Tiancai had already come down and were sitting on the sofa. The two little ones were also about to start school — in two days, they would be going to kindergarten.
When Little Su Ning saw Ji Chi appear in full camouflage uniform, his eyes lit up. “Chicken Wing-gege is handsome.”
Little Tiancai stood up, his tiny body straightening as he saluted Ji Chi. “Hello, Police-gege.”
Mother Su was instantly amused by the two little clever ones.
She turned her head to look at Ji Chi. “Xiao Chi, this suits you very well. You look so spirited.”
Little Su Ning and Little Tiancai crowded around, reaching out curiously to touch Ji Chi’s pants.
At this moment, Su Ci also walked downstairs. She had already changed into her camouflage uniform.
“Cici, come let Mom take a look.” Mother Su’s eyes lit up when she saw her daughter coming down. As expected of her daughter, beautiful no matter what she wore.
Su Ci’s waist was slender and her legs long. She had also put on the cap, her hair completely tucked inside, revealing her delicate, beautiful swan-like neck. “This outfit isn’t breathable. It’s so hot.”
“The fabric is very dense, very durable, and resistant to friction. It’s true that it doesn’t breathe much.” Mother Su couldn’t help taking out her phone. “Cici, look here, give me a smile.”
Su Ci adjusted her belt, and upon hearing her mother’s words, she looked in her direction.
Mother Su pressed the shutter and took a photo of her daughter. “My daughter is truly beautiful.”
“Mom, you took a picture?” Su Ci was a little shocked. “No, delete it. I look ugly right now.”
Su Ci did not allow her appearance to be compromised.
Mother Su saved it anyway, planning to show off her daughter on WeChat Moments later. “How could you be ugly? You look very spirited in this outfit.”
Little Su Ning came over and stood beside Su Ci. His little mouth was sweet and skilled at flattering. “Jiejie is pretty.”
“Thank you, Ning Ning.” Su Ci moved her feet. “These shoes are really uncomfortable.”
The soles were too hard. For Su Ci, it was torture.
Mother Su suddenly remembered something. “I have several new insoles. I’ll have someone bring them to you later. Put them inside your shoes, it’ll be more comfortable.”
Su Ci nodded.
“Xiao Chi, are your shoes uncomfortable? Let me see if Zhi Yuan has any new insoles. I’ll have someone bring you a pair.” Mother Su asked Ji Chi, who was standing quietly and upright at the side. This child always behaved as if he were invisible.
Ji Chi politely declined. “Thank you, Auntie Su, but it’s fine. They fit well.”
Su Ci glanced at Ji Chi.
She had to admit, camouflage suited him. His build was tall and sturdy, completely holding up the uniform. Combined with his cold, hard features, he genuinely had a bit of a soldier’s iron-blooded aura.
Su Ci suddenly thought of Lu Zhe. She really wanted to see what Lu Zhe would look like in this uniform, he would definitely be very handsome!
“It’s so hot. This outfit is too unbreathable. I’m going to change out of it first.” It wasn’t just unbreathable — the fabric felt rough and scratchy against her skin, making her uncomfortable.
Hearing her daughter say that, Mother Su immediately said, “Go ahead and change, then.”
After her daughter went upstairs, Mother Su sent the photo she took of Ji Chi to her friend Fang Qin. Then she posted her daughter’s photo on her Moments.
The moment the picture went up, a flood of likes and comments appeared underneath.
Father Su: Cici looks very spirited in this outfit, very handsome — as expected of my daughter.
Su Zhiyuan: Cici looks great. Good luck with military training.
Wen Ya: Cici takes after her parents. She looks good in anything.
Below were comments from all of Mother Su’s friends, filled with praise — not flattery, but genuine admiration. After all, Su Ci was truly beautiful.
In the car, Wen Ya and Lu Chen were accompanying Lu Zhe on his way back after university registration.
“The Su family’s children really grow well. Su Ci inherited all the best genes from Tong Xin and Su Shengguo.” After liking and commenting on Mother Su’s Moments, Wen Ya couldn’t help sighing.
Upon hearing Su Ci mentioned, Lu Zhe subconsciously looked toward his mother.
Wen Ya noticed her son’s gaze and couldn’t help smiling. “Zai Zai, Tong Xin posted a photo of Su Ci wearing her military training uniform on her Moments. Do you want to see it?”
Lu Zhe nodded. “Send it to me.”
Not only did he want to see it, he wanted to save it.
Wen Ya was amused by the way her son seriously asked for Su Ci’s photo. “Alright, I’ll send it to you.”
A moment later, Lu Zhe received the photo his mother sent.
In the photo, the girl’s eyes held a hint of surprise — clearly taken without her knowing.
She was wearing the camouflage uniform, the cap pulled low, her hair completely tucked underneath. Her slender, fair neck was exposed — just a small section of luminous white skin, yet so beautiful that one couldn’t look away.
Under the cap, her black eyes shimmered, and her small face was pale and tender, exquisite and lovely.
Seeing her son absorbed in Su Ci’s photo, Wen Ya sighed and turned to Lu Chen beside her, her voice filled with a bittersweet ache. “A son doesn’t belong to his mother once he grows up.”
Lu Chen seized the chance to act spoiled. “A son will always belong to his wife someday. Yaya, I’m the only one who will always be yours. You should dote on me more.”
Wen Ya was overwhelmed by the cheesiness and pushed his face away. “At your age, you’re still fighting for affection with your son? Lu Chen, have some shame.”
Lu Chen raised an eyebrow. When had he ever cared about shame?

The next day, because of military training, Su Ci got up early.
She half-squinted as she changed clothes, washed up, ate breakfast, and even by the time she reached the gathering point, she still felt dazed — too sleepy.
Shen Xue had already arrived at the gathering place. Seeing Su Ci appear, she hurried over. “Su Ci, you’re too much.”
Su Ci looked at her.
“How can you make a camouflage uniform look this good?” Shen Xue had no choice but to admit defeat.
Her slim waist and long legs were simply unfair. Plus Su Ci’s beautiful face and the snow-bright skin exposed outside the uniform — no wonder people said that good-looking people would look good even in a burlap sack.
Shen Xue had often heard the saying that military training uniforms could test true beauty. Looking at Su Ci now, she finally understood why.
Hearing the rainbow praise, Su Ci perked up a little, her mood improving. She had thought her looks would drop because of the uniform.
Not long after, Wen Duoyu also arrived. She greeted Su Ci timidly yet excitedly.
Thinking about being able to attend military training together with her goddess, she had been so excited last night she lost half a night’s sleep.
As time passed, the morning sun grew more intense, and the surrounding air seemed to heat up as well.
Lu Zhe was tall, so when lining up, he stood in the very front — first row, first position — incredibly eye-catching.
He was handsome, and with the camouflage uniform on, his posture was straight, his long legs strong and well-shaped, attracting frequent glances from girls in nearby classes.
There were more boys than girls in Lu Zhe’s class, and during breaks, they warmed up to each other quickly.
“Did you guys see? There’s a really pretty girl in the class next to us,” one boy couldn’t help saying.
“Which one?”
“The girl in the third row of the next class, the one in the very back. She still looks so pure and pretty even in the military uniform.”
“Why doesn’t our class have a girl that pretty?”
“Do you think she might be the school belle?”
“Does anyone know her name?”
“I know. I think her name is Zhao Youyou.”
“That boy who was standing in the first row earlier is so handsome. I want to add his contact.” A girl from the neighboring class couldn’t help saying during their chatter.
Zhao Youyou wiped the sweat from her forehead. Her skin was fair, and under the sunlight it appeared even paler. Ever since her rebirth, she had completely transformed herself.
Hearing the other girls discussing Lu Zhe, she subconsciously frowned and spoke sincerely, “He’s my older brother, but his health isn’t very good.”
She didn’t want other people to blindly like Lu Zhe.
“Your brother?” Someone was surprised.
“He was adopted from an orphanage by my father. We aren’t related by blood.” Zhao Youyou explained clearly.
Another girl couldn’t help asking, “Does he have a girlfriend? His health isn’t a problem, what’s important is that I’m very good at taking care of people.”
Zhao Youyou shook her head. “My brother doesn’t have a girlfriend. He has ALS, so he’s not suitable for dating.”
“ALS?” Someone let out a low gasp.
In everyone’s impression, ALS was an absolutely terrifying illness — a fatal one.
The girl who said she was good at taking care of people didn’t dare make another sound. ALS was a terminal disease; no matter how handsome the person was, that couldn’t be eaten as food.
Someone whispered with regret, “What a pity.”
Zhao Youyou nodded. “You must not spread this around. I don’t want others looking at my brother with tinted glasses.”
The girls reassured her, “Don’t worry, we won’t spread it.”
