Just then, the phone she had placed on the bed rang.
Su Ci’s eyes lit up.
The opportunity had delivered itself.
She walked over and answered the video call Lu Zhe had sent. “You’re not busy today?”
Normally at this hour, he would still be working.
“I’ll work after keeping you company.” Lu Zhe had taken Boss Fang’s words to heart.
To him, work was indeed not as important as she was.
Su Ci blinked, a little surprised. “Lu Zhe, did you eat honey tonight?”
He was actually saying sweet things.
Lu Zhe let out a soft laugh.
Su Ci picked up her phone and walked toward the vanity, placing it on the stand. She stepped back so the camera framed her entire body.
She deliberately complained to Lu Zhe, “I tried on the clothes I bought today, but it seems I got the wrong size. It’s a little tight, and the skirt is a bit short.”
Su Ci didn’t feel she was being dramatic at all, she could definitely be more dramatic.
Lu Zhe: …
The clothes on the girl in the camera were indeed small. The top exposed her slender waist, and the bottom revealed her straight, delicate long legs.
And at the low neckline, a large expanse of pale snow-white skin was visible.
Lu Zhe raised a hand to his forehead. He finally understood why this school uniform had become a “special outfit” in her words.
Su Ci deliberately spun around in front of him. Her face didn’t redden and she didn’t even blink as she began praising herself. “The skirt is small, but it suits me really well and looks good. What do you think?”
Lu Zhe’s gaze slid unintentionally across her exposed waist. He had held her so many times, of course he knew exactly how soft and slender her waist was.
He didn’t dare to look too closely at the alluringly beautiful girl in front of him. “It looks good.”
Su Ci glared at him in dissatisfaction. “You weren’t even looking at me.”
Lu Zhe was forced to lift his eyes to her. His gaze was deep. “It looks very good.”
Only then did Su Ci give him a satisfied little look.
If she were standing in front of Lu Zhe wearing this outfit, Su Ci might have felt a little embarrassed. But with a screen between them, her thick skin showed no trace of shyness.
She didn’t rush to change out of the outfit at all, just continued video chatting with Lu Zhe like that.
Seeing Lu Zhe’s flushed ears and his eyes shifting away, afraid to look at her, Su Ci felt full of triumphant satisfaction.
She really loved seeing Lu Zhe looking helpless, unable to do anything about her.

When Ji Chi still had half a day of life value left, Su Ci had been at the milk tea shop since morning.
The shop employees had seen Su Ci before, but every time they saw her, they were still amazed.
In the back work area, several male employees were marveling at Su Ci’s beauty.
Ding Xiaoyou looked at Ji Chi, who was drinking water.
She saw the boy tilt his head back, and as he swallowed, the Adam’s apple on his slender neck became even more pronounced. She stared, entranced, her little heart unable to stop pounding, her face turning red.
She felt that only a boy like Ji Chi wouldn’t be shallow like other men, who only cared about looks.
These past few days, that delicate girl had come to the shop several times, obviously for Ji Chi, and thick-skinned to the extreme.
Thankfully, Ji Chi seemed cold toward that delicate girl.
But girls pursuing boys was only separated by a thin layer of gauze. Ji Chi not wavered now didn’t mean he would never waver.
After all, that delicate girl was indeed very pretty.
Ding Xiaoyou bit her lip, unease growing in her heart.
She asked Ji Chi, “Are you going to the bar to work part-time tonight?”
“Mm.” Ji Chi put down his cup and prepared to head out for work.
Ding Xiaoyou unconsciously twisted a loose thread on her clothes. Ji Chi worked even harder than she did, she couldn’t find any chance to ask him out at all.
Su Ci was so bored. After finally waiting for Ji Chi to get off work, she picked up her phone and followed him out of the drink shop, not too fast, not too slow.
Ding Xiaoyou frowned deeply. That delicate girl couldn’t possibly be planning to chase Ji Chi to his night job, right?
How could there be such a shameless girl?
She threw down the rag in her hand and immediately went to the break room to change out of her work uniform, then hurried after them.
At the mall entrance, Ding Xiaoyou indeed saw the delicate girl following unhurriedly behind Ji Chi.
She quickly stepped forward and walked beside Ji Chi. “Ji Chi, my friend asked me to meet her at the bar you work at. I’m heading in the same direction as you— you don’t mind if I go with you, right? I’m not very familiar with the way.”
Ji Chi carried a black backpack. He was no longer wearing the milk tea shop uniform but a white T-shirt with jeans. The boy was young and handsome, making Ding Xiaoyou blush again.
“Whatever.” Ji Chi walked out of the mall toward the nearby bus stop.
He didn’t reject her, so Ding Xiaoyou was secretly delighted. She even glanced back at Su Ci.
It was rush hour, and many people were already waiting at the bus stop.
Ding Xiaoyou squeezed onto the bus with Ji Chi, but before she could steady herself, another wave of people pushed in.
In an instant, the bus was packed to the brim. Forget turning around, there was barely space to stand.
Having been pushed aside by others earlier, Ding Xiaoyou could only watch helplessly as Ji Chi ended up several people away from her.
Ji Chi held onto the bus handrail with one hand. The crowd pushing and squeezing around him didn’t affect his handsomeness in the slightest.
Originally, Ding Xiaoyou had planned to use the crowd as an excuse to stumble into Ji Chi’s arms so he would protect her.
After all, that was how romantic scenes in dramas always went.
But now, she couldn’t even get close to him.
Ding Xiaoyou felt a surge of frustration.
Meanwhile, Su Ci, who had walked out of the mall entrance, strolled toward the parking lot outside.
The driver had already been waiting. Seeing her come out, he quickly opened the car door for her.
Su Ci sat in the back seat and told the driver to follow the bus in front.
She didn’t invite Ji Chi to ride with her because she knew he would refuse, and she didn’t feel like wasting her effort.
Besides, if he asked why she was following him, she could easily refute him— she was simply going the same way.
Inside the bus, people kept pushing against one another. The daytime heat was stifling, and many passengers were sweating. All of them squeezed into such a small, enclosed space, the mixed sweat odors blending together into an air that was suffocating.
Ding Xiaoyou was used to crowded buses, but today she had intentionally worn a white long dress. She tried to shrink her body away, not wanting to touch the greasy men beside her, terrified that her white skirt would catch their smell or be dirtied by them.
When it was time to get off, she pushed her way through the crowd and stumbled out of the bus. Her dress had already been wrinkled from all the squeezing.
Ding Xiaoyou quickly used her hands to smooth out the pulled, creased spots.
Seeing Ji Chi walking ahead with large strides, she only had time to fuss with her skirt for a moment before hurrying after him. “Ji Chi, wait for me.”
Just as they were about to reach the entrance, a black luxury car stopped in front of them. The driver opened the door.
A foot stepped gracefully onto the ground— the ankle was slender and snow-white, wrapped with a thin silver anklet, its charm shaped like a clumsy little rabbit.
The owner of that fair foot stepped out. Her appearance was beautiful and dazzling, even her hair seemed illuminated, smooth and shining with light.
Ding Xiaoyou had always known her own background wasn’t good, but she didn’t resent it— she even worked hard to earn money.
But now, looking at the delicate girl in front of her— fresh, composed, not at all like her own disheveled self who had just been squeezed on a sweaty bus and smelled of other people’s sweat— Ding Xiaoyou subconsciously bit her lip.
Especially when she saw the other girl wearing a light lotus-colored dress that made her skin look whiter than snow. Ding Xiaoyou couldn’t tell brand names— those weren’t things she could ever afford— but she didn’t need to know brands to see that the fabric of that dress was extremely high quality.
That kind of thin, flowing, soft material definitely wasn’t something one could simply buy in a mall.
Ding Xiaoyou felt like she had eaten raw grapes, her mouth filled with sourness.
For the first time, she felt life was unfair. How could the other girl’s fate be so good, born into a wealthy family?
And someone like her— hardworking and optimistic— why was she the one who had to suffer and be wronged?
Instinctively, Ding Xiaoyou moved a little closer to Ji Chi’s side. At least she and Ji Chi lived in the same world, and she understood him more.
With that thought, the sourness in her mouth eased just a little.
The next second, two more cars stopped abruptly at the entrance.
Ding Xiaoyou looked up instinctively and saw several men dressed in uniform black clothing, tall and muscular, stepping out of the cars. Their strides were neat and imposing as they walked straight toward them.
Ding Xiaoyou was so startled she instinctively hid behind Ji Chi.
The group of strong men stopped in front of Su Ci. “Miss.”
Su Ci nodded. “Let’s go in.”
Her body was delicate, no one should expect her to fight off murderers and save Ji Chi herself.
Ding Xiaoyou watched as the tall men followed behind the delicate girl, surrounding her as they escorted her inside.
Ding Xiaoyou was utterly shocked.
So this was the high, lofty bearing of a wealthy young lady?
The sourness in her mouth surged up again, uncontrollable.
