The little tear mole beneath her eye, under the shifting lights, held an indescribable allure.
The half-bald man was instantly captivated.
Tonight he had really struck gold. This was the first time he had seen such a stunning beauty. Not only was she gorgeous, but even the skin exposed outside was milky-white. Even without touching, he could guess the girl’s skin would feel incredibly good.
“Please let big brother sit, hmm?” The half-bald man stared at Su Ci with obsession.
Su Ci frowned in disgust. “You don’t have the qualification to call yourself my big brother. At your age, with your hair almost gone, you actually dare to call yourself ‘big brother.’”
Her big brother was only Su Zhiyuan.
“Get lost.” Su Ci didn’t bother giving him another glance.
The half-bald man’s expression twisted, but it was his first time encountering such a beautiful girl — he couldn’t bear to give up.
Drooling, he even brushed the few strands of hair left on his forehead. “Do you know who I am?”
Su Ci was speechless. “Who you are is something I don’t care to know.”
The half-bald man chuckled. The girl’s fiery temper only made him more intrigued.
Seeing her pretty little face, he reached out a hand, wanting to touch her snow-white, smooth cheek.
Across the room, Ji Chi’s brows tightened sharply. He strode over, wanting to stop the man.
However, the four bodyguards hiding in the dark moved even faster.
One bodyguard grabbed the half-bald man’s hand and twisted it behind his back. Another clamped a hand around the man’s neck.
“Miss.” The bodyguard waited for Su Ci’s instruction.
Su Ci propped her chin with one hand, her expression lazy, her tone full of disgust. “Throw him out of the bar. I don’t want to see his face.”
“Yes, Miss.”
Immediately, two bodyguards covered the half-bald man’s mouth, held his arms, and dragged him out, half carrying, half pulling — then tossed him straight out of the bar.
Everyone was stunned.
Not even a minute had passed. Just moments ago, some people had been regretfully thinking that such a beautiful girl was about to be taken advantage of by that half-bald man. Many secretly felt annoyed.
Who would have expected such a dramatic reversal?
Looking at the two tall bodyguards standing behind the beautiful girl, they were too shocked to recover. This was absolutely not a fragile little white rabbit who could be eaten at any time — this was clearly a queen.
Ji Chi lowered his foot. A self-mocking smile appeared on his lips. The Su family’s treasured young miss, how could it ever be his turn to protect her?
Ji Chi carried the tray away.
The manager saw Ji Chi coming in and immediately grabbed him. “This is the order for Private Room 108. You go handle it. The people inside are from the Lu family, very influential. You absolutely must not offend them. Serve them well, understand?”
Ji Chi responded.
At that moment, inside Private Room 108, noisy voices echoed.
“I… I don’t know you, please let go of me.” Ding Xiaoyou bit her lip. Her weak, helpless posture only inflamed the man’s possessiveness.
Lu Wudi not only refused to release her hand, he pulled her directly into his arms. “You’re the one who bumped into me just now. You were clearly the one seducing me.”
This woman wasn’t particularly stunning, but she wore a white long dress and looked fresh and cute, completely different from the heavy-makeup, sexy women in the bar.
After eating too much abalone and shark fin, having some light home-cooked food wasn’t bad either.
Besides, this was the first time Lu Wudi had seen a woman with such a stubborn, unyielding look on her face. He found it rather interesting.
He had money, and countless women threw themselves at him. But such a delicate, fresh-looking woman — he hadn’t tried before.
“I didn’t.” Ding Xiaoyou’s eyes turned red. Her dress had been wrinkled from struggling. All around, people were watching her like entertainment. The humiliation made her want to cry.
Just earlier in the hallway, she had been going to look for Ji Chi when this drunken man bumped into her and dragged her into the private room.
Lu Wudi tightened his grip on her hand, took a drag of his cigarette, and exhaled smoke into Ding Xiaoyou’s face. He had drunk a lot; his head was hazy. All he felt was that the woman in his arms was soft and fragile, yet unbelievably disobedient.
He pulled her closer and leaned in toward her ear. “Do you know who I am? I’m from the Lu family. The nephew of the richest man. If you obediently be my girlfriend, whatever you like, I can give you — cars, houses, pretty clothes, jewelry. Anything you want.”
Ding Xiaoyou froze mid-struggle.
She stared at the man holding her, shocked. She had heard of the Lu family.
She’d heard coworkers at the shop say the Lu family was so rich that even a whole shopping mall might not be enough to hold all their money if converted into cash.
Lu Wudi kissed her cheek. “Heard of it, haven’t you? Follow me and you can have anything. What’s your name?”
Ding Xiaoyou looked at the man who had kissed her. He wasn’t as handsome as Ji Chi, and he was a bit chubby, but his features were decent. Paired with the high-quality suit he wore, he did have the air of a wealthy man.
She bit her lip and answered him softly, “Ding Xiaoyou.”
Lu Wudi kissed her again. “Xiaoyou, hm, good name.”
“Lu-ge, congratulations on getting another new girlfriend.” The other men raised their glasses, teasing loudly again.
“I’m not his girlfriend, I didn’t agree.” Ding Xiaoyou hurriedly denied it.
Her brows furrowed, tangled with frustration. “I don’t want you to give me things. My family might be poor, but I can earn my own money. Let go of me, I want to go home.”
“This is the first time I’ve met such a backbone-having woman.” Lu Wudi hiccupped, the smell of alcohol thick in his breath. He raised an eyebrow. “Woman, you’ve caught my attention.”
Ding Xiaoyou’s face flushed. She tried to pull his hand off her. “Let me go.”
At that moment, the door opened and a handsome waiter pushed in a serving cart. “Sir, the drinks you ordered.”
Ding Xiaoyou saw Ji Chi appear. She froze for a second, then her face flushed with humiliation. Looking at the handsome Ji Chi, she had no desire to deal with the man holding her.
“Ji Chi, save me.” Ding Xiaoyou pleaded at him in grievance, hoping he would help her.
“Oh? You know this little waiter?” Lu Wudi tightened his hold on her.
“I don’t like you. I don’t like your money either. Let me go.” Ding Xiaoyou struggled. “Ji Chi, save me. I don’t know him. He suddenly dragged me into the private room.”
“You want a little waiter to save you?” Seeing the woman he fancied call another man for help made Lu Wudi even more displeased. He kicked a bottle of foreign wine off the table.
The glass bottle shattered instantly.
Lu Wudi looked at Ji Chi with smug pride. “Oh, it fell. Waiter, come pick it up.”
Ji Chi’s lips pressed tightly together. Without making a sound, he went to get the broom and dustpan outside the door.
Lu Wudi lifted his chin at him. “I told you to use your hand.”
Ji Chi lowered his gaze. He let go of the broom and bent down to pick up the glass.
Lu Wudi stroked Ding Xiaoyou’s face and sneered, “Look. You like a man who bows and scrapes like this? What can he give you?”
Ding Xiaoyou froze. A sharp ache pierced her heart. “Who I like has nothing to do with you. Ji Chi, save me.”
Lu Wudi was about to scoff—
The next second, a shard of glass was pressed against his neck.
“Sir, please let her go.”
Ji Chi’s expression was icy. He didn’t want to cause trouble, but even if a stranger asked him for help, he couldn’t just stand by. Even more so when it was someone he knew.
He studied medicine. His original purpose wasn’t only to treat his mother’s illness, but also to help others.
A doctor needed a kind heart.
If he turned a blind eye now, then he wasn’t suited for medicine at all.
Lu Wudi glared fiercely at Ji Chi and let out a cold laugh. “Heh, quite a bit of nerve.”
Feeling the sharp glass against his neck, he loosened his grip on Ding Xiaoyou.
Ding Xiaoyou quickly hid behind Ji Chi, clutching tightly onto the hem of his uniform. “Thank you, Ji Chi.”
Ji Chi withdrew the shard of glass from his hand and said to Lu Wudi, “I’m sorry for offending you.”
The moment he finished speaking, several men rushed forward. “You brat, how dare you bully Young Master Lu? You must have a death wish!”
“Don’t hit him!” Ding Xiaoyou hurriedly moved aside, watching in terror as several people surrounded Ji Chi.
Lu Wudi let out a few mocking laughs. “If you beat him to death, I’ll take responsibility.”
Ding Xiaoyou’s pupils shrank sharply.
She knew they were in real trouble now. With how wealthy the Lu family was, she and Ji Chi — both children from poor families — absolutely couldn’t afford to provoke them.
For people like them, having their limbs broken or even being beaten to death would be considered normal.
Ding Xiaoyou bit her lip in fear. Ji Chi was clearly no match for them.
She slowly edged toward the door, then suddenly pushed it open and ran out.
Terrified, Ding Xiaoyou escaped.
Outside the main hall—
Su Ci glanced at the time on her phone. Ten minutes left.
She scanned the area for Ji Chi, but didn’t see him. He had clearly been nearby just moments ago.
Su Ci frowned and instructed the bodyguard behind her, “Go find Ji Chi immediately. I want to know where he is right now.”
The bodyguard responded at once. “Yes, Miss.”
Just then, Su Ci saw Ding Xiaoyou stumbling frantically through the crowd, running as if fleeing for her life.
Her gaze sharpened. She said to another bodyguard, “Go. Stop her.”
