The sky gradually brightened, and the sun began to rise from the horizon.
Having obtained the golden cotton candy, Su Ci no longer wanted to bother with Li Chengyu. She could provide the evidence anyway; how to deal with this Li Xiaoli was Li Chengyu’s business and had nothing to do with her.
Li Chengyu wanted to call the police. Li Xiaoli, frightened, panicked; she had not expected things to turn out like this.
Li Chengyu looked arrogant but was actually brainless. Her original plan could have succeeded, yet unexpectedly someone suddenly appeared and completely ruined her plan.
Just a little bit more…
“Xiao Yu, I’m begging you, please don’t call the police. You know my mother is sick. If something happens to me, no one will be able to take care of her.” Li Xiaoli directly knelt in front of Li Chengyu, “I beg you.”
There were many small gravel pieces on the mountaintop. As Li Xiaoli knelt down, her knees pressed onto the little stones, and at this moment her tears were indeed real.
Li Chengyu was very angry. “It’s useless even if you kneel. You deliberately tried to kill someone. I will definitely call the police.” She had almost been pushed off the mountain by Li Xiaoli just now. “Why did you want to kill me?”
Hearing that Li Chengyu insisted on calling the police, Li Xiaoli staggered to her feet and no longer continued to plead.
“Why kill you?” She looked at Li Chengyu with hatred. “Clearly we share the same father. Why are you the precious eldest miss of the Li family, while I have to live with my mom in a small, dirty, messy room since I was little?”
“You asked where my father went.” Li Xiaoli spoke mockingly: “He was taken away by you and your mom.”
Leaning against Lu Zhe, Su Ci ate her melon seeds; she had not expected something this melodramatic to exist between the two of them.
Li Xiaoli and Li Chengyu were actually half-sisters.
Li Chengyu refuted Li Xiaoli’s words in disbelief. “Impossible. My dad only has one daughter—me.”
Since things had already been exposed, Li Xiaoli no longer cared about hiding anything. “If you don’t believe me, I can go do a paternity test anytime.”
Li Chengyu bit her lip, her hand trembling. “You’re my dad’s illegitimate daughter? Did he know you existed?”
“You’re the illegitimate daughter.” Li Xiaoli seemed to have been hit at a sore spot. “I’m three months older than you. If Dad hadn’t needed to form a marriage alliance with your mom before, why would he have broken up with my mom back then?”
When she first learned the truth about her birth, she immediately went to look for Father Li.
However, he didn’t care about this daughter at all. He even tried to give her a sum of money to send her away, and told her that the Li family only had one daughter—Li Chengyu.
Clearly she and Li Chengyu shared his blood. Why could Li Chengyu become the noble, pampered Li family young miss, while she lived in the slums? Since childhood she had been mocked and bullied for not having a father.
Especially after she met Li Chengyu at school—Li Chengyu was nothing more than a spoiled, arrogant, brainless rich miss. Strip away her identity, and she was completely worthless.
So, she had planned to approach Li Chengyu and then get rid of her.
Without Li Chengyu’s existence, Father Li would only have her as his biological daughter, and she would surely become the Li family’s young miss.
The brainless Li Chengyu was easy to fool. She knew Li Chengyu liked the Su family’s eldest young master. After arriving at the mountain villa, she told Li Chengyu that as long as she stood at the mountaintop and made a wish at the moment of sunrise, the wish would come true—especially matters of love.
She had not expected Li Chengyu to fall for it so easily.
Killing her would be effortless.
If not for these two people suddenly appearing, she would have already succeeded—turning this incident into an accident, with Li Chengyu slipping and falling off the mountain.
Hearing Li Xiaoli’s words, Li Chengyu’s mind went blank. She couldn’t tell whether the other party’s words were true or false.
The Li family had always had only her as their daughter. Her parents had always loved her. Now the follower she had always looked down on, Li Xiaoli, had suddenly become her father’s illegitimate daughter. She could not accept it at all.
“Li Chengyu, are you sure you want to call the police? Make this a big deal?” Li Xiaoli glared fiercely at her. “If you don’t mind the entire B City knowing that I’m Dad’s daughter, then go ahead and call.”
Li Chengyu was furious; the usually timid follower who trailed behind her every day had actually been a venomous snake.
In the end, Li Chengyu did not call the police. She planned to go home and let her father handle this matter. She didn’t believe her father would allow Li Xiaoli to try to kill her and do nothing.
Watching Li Xiaoli leave, Su Ci looked toward Li Chengyu. “She’s gone. Why aren’t you leaving?”
A sudden illegitimate daughter had appeared in the Li family, and from today’s events alone, it was clear this illegitimate daughter was not only calculating but also ruthless, knew when to advance or retreat, and even used the Li family’s reputation to counter-threaten Li Chengyu.
Meanwhile, Li Chengyu was proud but not very intelligent. If the two of them truly clashed, Li Chengyu would definitely be the one to suffer.
But all of this had nothing to do with her.
Saving Li Chengyu today already made her a very kind little fairy.
“She just left. What if she ambushes me on the road and continues trying to kill me?” Li Chengyu wasn’t acting stupid at this moment.
Su Ci glanced at the other party’s Life Value and laughed. “Don’t worry. If she kills you, I’ll help point her out as the murderer.”
Li Chengyu widened her eyes. “Why are you so annoying?”
“Annoying or not, I’m still the one who saved your life!” Su Ci lifted her chin slightly. “Remember, I saved your life. You owe me a favor.” She had suffered through lack of sleep, waking up early and turning ugly, and the exhausting climb up the mountain—no matter what the reason was, in any case, she had indeed saved Li Chengyu.
Li Chengyu really was grateful for Su Ci’s sudden appearance. If not for Su Ci, she would already be lying dead at the bottom of the mountain.
“Thank you.” Li Chengyu felt a little awkward but still thanked Su Ci. “I will remember that I owe you a favor.”
Only then did Su Ci nod in satisfaction.
At this moment, the sun slowly rose, illuminating half the dim sky.
“The sun is rising.” Li Chengyu looked toward the sun peeking out from the horizon.
“You came all the way up here, almost died, just to watch the sunrise?” Su Ci asked her.
“Li Xiaoli told me that making a wish at sunrise would let me stay with the person I like forever.” Li Chengyu was a little shy.
Su Ci genuinely felt that Li Chengyu was a silly sweet girl. “Such a childish lie was enough to trick you up here?” No wonder Li Xiaoli refused to accept that Li Chengyu was the Li family’s young miss.
Realizing it after the fact, Li Chengyu’s face went pale. “She lied to me?”
Su Ci was speechless. “I’m really curious what you have in your head.”
Li Chengyu bit her lip, her face flushing red. “I just like someone too much… so I desperately wanted to grasp any hope. You don’t like anyone, how would you understand how I feel?”
Su Ci let out a soft snort. Her fair little face was made even whiter by the golden light at the horizon. “Who says I don’t understand? If you like someone, instead of confessing or working hard to win them over, you choose to make some unrealistic wish at the sun? Don’t tell me that’s a pure maiden’s heart. A maiden’s heart doesn’t mean being stupid.”
Li Chengyu felt deeply wronged after being mocked by Su Ci.
She had almost been killed by Li Xiaoli, and yet Su Ci was still mocking her.
Su Ci no longer paid attention to her. She reached out and tugged Lu Zhe. “The sun is out. Let’s go over there to watch the sunrise.”
Since they were here, they shouldn’t waste it.
Su Ci and Lu Zhe sat together on a smooth rock.
The golden light of the sun grew stronger, and a golden line seemed to appear along the horizon.
Whether it was a lie or not, Li Chengyu also walked over. Looking at the rising sun, she suddenly felt that even if it had been a lie, seeing such a beautiful scene was at least a small comfort.
Li Chengyu’s restless and chaotic heart gradually calmed down.
At this moment, the pleasant voice of the girl beside her sounded, “I want to stay with Lu Zhe forever.”
“Weren’t you just mocking me for being stupid for making a wish at the sun?” Li Chengyu looked at Su Ci in shock. “Why are you making a wish too?”
Su Ci gave her a sideways glance. “Which eye of yours saw me making a wish?”
The golden sunlight fell across Su Ci’s face and the top of her head. The girl looked as pretty as a little enchantress. She leaned into Lu Zhe’s embrace with a smile, lifted her eyes toward the boy whose ears had turned red, and said, “I was confessing to him.”
Li Chengyu choked.
Only then did she shift her gaze to the boy beside Su Ci. Earlier, she had been so terrified by Li Xiaoli trying to kill her that she hadn’t noticed the boy next to Su Ci.
Seeing Su Ci leaning in the boy’s arms, her eyes were filled with shock. “You and him…”
Su Ci liked this boy?
In their circle, Su Ci was the high and untouchable little princess. No one didn’t envy her.
She had heard that even He Ermeng of the He family, when pursuing her, was cautious and nervous, and still had not succeeded. She had never expected Su Ci to already have someone she liked.
Li Chengyu stared in stunned disbelief. She hadn’t expected Su Ci to have someone she liked!
Su Ci glanced at her and said, “Some things are enough for you to know.”
Li Chengyu instantly understood. “Don’t worry, you saved my life. I won’t tell anyone.”
The Su family’s young miss being in love was a huge matter. She understood why Su Ci didn’t make it public. But did Su Ci’s parents know she liked someone?
By the time they went down the mountain, the sky was fully bright.
