Oh no, someone’s dead! Song Xu nervously looked at the expressions on the faces of the people around her.
But she quickly realized that she was the only one who was nervous. After Tiger Mommy transformed into human form, the impatient, irritable expression on her face became even more obvious. Grandmother Killer Whale was still as fierce as ever. The giant clam poked its lid up to look around, its expression still carrying pity.
“His head got kicked off again. Luckily, jellyfish beastmen grow their heads pretty fast,” he said.
So he wouldn’t die. Song Xu instantly became calm and detached.
“Mom, Wumu isn’t with you, and he’s not on the other island either. He’s probably on the first island. Let’s go look for him right now!” The little squirrel tugged at Tiger Mommy, worried that if they delayed another two days, her snake would turn into a wild sea snake.
With that not-very-bright brain of his, could he even land safely? Wouldn’t he still be swimming around in the water?
Mom was being chased by a jellyfish on shore; he might be chasing a jellyfish in the sea.
Heisen looked a bit gloomy. “The boat is broken!”
She had clung to the boat and been pushed by wind and waves to the second island. When landing, the boat hit the reef and shattered. Without a boat, Heisen couldn’t go out to sea, and she wasn’t very good at repairing boats either. She was already irritable, and then got pestered by two males on the island, so she took out her anger on them.
Song Xu briefly thought about the possibility of having Grandmother Killer Whale carry all of them together to the first island, but quickly gave up on this overly beautiful fantasy.
Just look at these two ladies—one the king of the land, one the king of the sea. The way they sized each other up looked like they were about to start fighting at any moment. Pitifully, she, a tiny little squirrel, still had to intentionally or unintentionally stand between them as a buffer.
“How’s our boat? I’ll go see if I can fix it,” Song Xu said.
At this, Heisen’s expression grew even worse. She no longer looked at the ferocious-aura Grandmother Killer Whale, but subconsciously searched the sea for the jellyfish, looking very much like she wanted to tear him apart again.
“The boat was dragged into the water and hidden by that Baixiang,” she said. Unable to find any trace of the jellyfish, she grabbed the reef beside her with one hand and cracked off a large chunk to vent her anger.
Song Xu: “……”
The boat had been hidden somewhere by the big jellyfish. If none of them here could go into the water, they would be helpless—but they had Grandmother Killer Whale!
Being stared at by the little squirrel with shining eyes, Grandmother Killer Whale puffed out her chest and stepped forward, grabbing the giant clam who was trying to sneak away, and asked him, “Where did our squirrel’s boat go?”
The giant clam said awkwardly, “I don’t know……”
Another piece of his beautiful shell was smashed off. He hurriedly changed his words. “I do know, but Baixiang is, after all, our clan leader. I can’t help an outsider beastman……”
“You old thing, you’re scared of him? When you snatched the previous clan leader’s partner, why weren’t you scared then?” said the killer whale.
Song Xu looked in surprise at the big jellyfish that had quietly reappeared in the water. This thing… the clan leader?
Then she looked again at the giant clam with a whole new gaze. You… NTR?
“That was when I was young,” the giant clam muttered as he closed his lid.
In the end, under Grandmother Killer Whale’s “persuasion,” they still learned the location where Baixiang had hidden the boat. Grandmother Killer Whale went straight into the water to look for it, while the squirrel and the tiger squatted at the edge and watched.
It was in a relatively deep trench in the middle of the island. From several dozen meters above, you could still see a faint shadow. Go down a hundred meters and you couldn’t see anything clearly. Squatting on the shore and looking down, Song Xu only felt like it was a bottomless abyss.
Big jellyfish, you really hid it deep.
Baixiang looked toward Heisen by the water’s edge, then slowly descended and chased after the killer whale. As he sank, he saw the killer whale already pushing the wooden raft he had hidden upward. He immediately panicked and quickly stuck close, but just as he was about to reach her, a giant clam appeared. He failed to touch the killer whale and instead stuck directly onto the giant clam’s lid.
Facing a giant clam whose seams were tightly shut, no matter how much deadly poison he secreted, there was nowhere to start.
As the current clan leader, Baixiang’s poison was far more formidable than his brother Lanhuan’s. It was just that he could control whether he secreted poison, and from which parts of his body it was secreted. This kind of lethal-dose poison that would kill with just a touch, he would never use on the partner he had chosen. And so, even after being bitten until miserable, tragic, and tattered, there was nothing he could do.
Seeing that he still wanted to chase after them, the giant clam clamped him with its lid.
“Why are you stopping me?” the jellyfish angrily turned back and asked.
“Forget it. They’re land beastmen. Sooner or later they’ll leave this place. We can’t keep them,” the giant clam offered a helpless, experienced-person’s advice.
The big jellyfish struggled free and surfaced. The partner he had chosen was lifting up the little squirrel beside her, and together with the killer whale holding up the big boat, they were walking toward the shore. Their backs looked so eager, so happy.
He still got up and chased after them.
“Does it look like there are beastmen stuck on top?” Sitting on Tiger Mommy’s shoulder and arm, Song Xu watched as Grandmother Killer Whale used her hands to pluck off the various snails and shells attached to the wooden boat, casually tossing them into the nearby shallow water.
On the wooden boat that was dripping water, there were snail-type beastmen who had just been awakened by the disturbance. They dizzily poked their heads out, met Song Xu’s gaze, and in the next second were so frightened that their mouths loosened and they rolled off the wooden boat themselves.
After clearing away the snails, shells, seaweed, and such growing on top, Song Xu examined the wooden boat and felt that the situation was still relatively optimistic. The hull had not been damaged too badly and could be used.
She squatted by the shore and first dealt with the parts Tiger Mommy had previously tried to repair. It was clear that she had once very seriously attempted to fix the boat, but she had repaired it without any method. The violently forced connections had instead damaged the boat’s balanced structure.
Master boatbuilder Song Xu deftly re-tied and reconnected those parts, and used some shells she had picked up by the shore to fill in the missing sections. Very quickly, the boat looked usable.
When she straightened up and announced that the boat could be launched, it was still Big Tiger Mommy who anxiously jumped first into the hollow of the big boat.
“Mom, don’t rush yet. Let’s push the boat into the water and test it first.” Actually, it would be best to let the boat dry before launching, but Song Xu also couldn’t wait anymore. She was worried that with Snake Snake’s current brain, even if he reached the Tiankeng, with a rock right at his mouth he might not even eat it. Since Tiger Mommy didn’t need her rescue, she had to rush off to rescue Snake Snake!
“Grandma, are you coming with us?” Song Xu asked the killer whale beside her. She had already realized the benefits of having a backer. If she wouldn’t carry Big Tiger, at least she could help push the boat.
Heisen jumped down from the boat again, about to push it into the sea.
“You’re not allowed to go.” The jellyfish’s anxious voice came from behind. Song Xu and the tiger turned their heads at the same time, and saw a pale-colored person walking out of the shallow water.
This person was so white it was as if he hadn’t been colored in. His hair was white with a faint seawater blue, and his skin was, in the true sense, translucent white under the sunlight, delicate and fragile. Because he was good-looking, even wearing a tattered, garbage-bag-like outfit draped over his body, he still looked graceful and swaying.
He just looked extremely weak, the kind of weak that couldn’t withstand the slightest breeze, very much possessing the temperament of the jellyfish race.
He slowly walked closer and spoke to stop her. “You can’t go. You must be my partner.”
Song Xu thought Heisen was about to explode and fly over to give him a kick, but when she looked up, she saw Heisen staring at the big jellyfish’s face, and her expression actually showed a bit of wavering.
Song Xu: ……Mom, is this the first time you’ve seen his beastman form? You’re only now realizing that he looks in line with your aesthetic, aren’t you!
But Heisen looked at the sea again and still let out a fierce voice of refusal. “No. I have things to do. Get lost. Don’t come block me!”
Compared to a beautiful male, her own cub was, of course, more important.
The boat was launched. Song Xu walked to the bow, pointed toward the silhouette of the first small island, and said, “Set off! Search for Snake Snake!”
Ripples flowed across the nearby sea surface.
“Pa.”
A hand suddenly reached out from the seawater and grabbed Song Xu’s foot.
Wumu, who had just swum here from the first island and sensed his partner’s aura, popped his head out of the water. The screaming Song Xu stepped right on his face.
“Ahhh ahhh something in the sea grabbed my foot!!”
Discovering a snake tail in the sea, before Song Xu could even see the other party’s face clearly, the frightened scream in her mouth turned into a joyful shout: “Ahhh it’s Wumu! Snake Snake, you found your way here by yourself, baby, you’re amazing!”
Seamlessly connected. Wumu, who had just had his face stepped on, hadn’t even reacted yet before his head was grabbed again by the squirrel. Seeing that her kiss was about to land, she suddenly remembered something and abruptly stopped.
Song Xu silently dipped her fluffy paw in water and vigorously rubbed Wumu’s face for a while. Only then did she reconnect her excited expression and plant two loud kisses on his forehead.
“I missed you so much. Even though we’ve only been apart for two days, I feel like several chapters have already passed! Wait, why is your face normal again!” Only then did Song Xu notice what was wrong, and she looked left and right at Wumu’s fair face in shock and delight.
Wumu grabbed her hand and rose from the seawater. His upper body had already returned to the appearance when Song Xu first met him, except that it was still covered with some soft snake scales, while his lower body was a snake tail.
This was a very standard half-beastman form. For a moment, Song Xu wasn’t sure what state he was in now.
Generally speaking, adult half-beastmen have two forms: one beast form, and one half-beastman form. Adult beastmen also have two forms: one beast form, and one beastman form, which is completely human-shaped.
“He’s already gone to the Tiankeng and completed his metamorphosis,” Grandmother Killer Whale said, having seen this many times and knowing at a glance. “After a half-beastman successfully metamorphoses, they have three forms: beastman, half-beastman, and beast form.”
Song Xu’s eyes immediately lit up. She felt around on Wumu for a bit. “You can turn into beastman form now? Hurry hurry hurry, change for me, change one!”
Wumu was also looking at her, confirming that the squirrel wasn’t injured and was still full of vitality. Hearing her request, he hesitated.
“What’s wrong, why are you making that face, you still can’t change?” Song Xu worriedly cupped that frowning beauty’s face, heart fluttering a hundred times.
“Beastman form is inconvenient,” Wumu said.
Song Xu suddenly happily screamed again and hugged his head. “You can talk again, my snake!”
Because Song Xu kept getting startled and her attention frequently went off on tangents, it took quite a while before she finally saw Wumu’s beastman form.
The snake tail turned into two legs. His figure was just as tall and slender as Tiger Mommy’s, and even taller-looking than when he stood upright in half-beastman form. His muscles were not as exaggerated as those of the killer whale beastmen, but beautifully shaped. More importantly, the clothing formed from his snakeskin… was dark red leather with black patterns.
Tight-fitting leather, wrapping not only his legs but also his upper body, making him look simply like a cold, gorgeous assassin. Black and red color scheme, forever god-tier!
“Hiss!” Song Xu sucked in a breath. “Spicy! So spicy!”
Spicy? Wumu knew that the grilled fish seasoning Song Xu often used by the shore was called spicy. But why was she shouting spicy at this moment?
Seeing that his partner’s gaze had even become dazed, Wumu reached out and pinched her mouth, peering inside to confirm that she wasn’t eating anything. Then why did she suddenly shout spicy?
Wumu didn’t understand, but he knew that right now he needed to find her some water to drink.
