Su Ci was so frightened she stood frozen in place, not daring to move. She pressed her lips together, a little nervous as she looked at Lu Zhe lying on the bed.
Her mind spun rapidly. How was she supposed to explain her identity?
In the quiet room, Su Ci heard the chaotic pounding of her own heartbeat in her chest.
She was going to die. What on earth was she feeling guilty and scared about?
The young man lay there motionless.
Su Ci gathered a bit more courage and shifted her feet, taking a small step forward.
The next moment, the young man on the bed abruptly sat up. Su Ci’s eyes widened in shock, and she froze.
Uu, did he have to give people such jump scares?
Lu Zhe’s handsome face, pale and rigid, carried a faint flush from the alcohol. His pitch-black eyes were less cold than usual, damp and glistening.
His gaze landed on Su Ci standing beside the bed. “Who are you?”
Su Ci’s heart tightened inexplicably. Was he drunk? Or… not drunk?
Since he had already noticed her, perfect — she could use this opportunity to tell him about herself. “I……”
Before Su Ci could finish, Lu Zhe cut her off.
The boy’s sharp brows were furrowed. “This belongs to Tuan Tuan.”
Hm?
Su Ci was confused.
Lu Zhe got off the bed. He crouched in front of Su Ci, and in her startled daze, the boy’s cold, large hand directly grasped her ankle.
Her foot was suddenly lifted, and Su Ci lost balance, falling back to sit on the edge of the bed. “What are you doing?”
Lu Zhe glanced at her lightly. Su Ci clearly saw the disgust in his eyes. “This belongs to Tuan Tuan.”
He bought it for Tuan Tuan!
Seeing his large hand rub over the red string on her ankle, Su Ci finally understood what he meant.
She blinked. The young man before her had dark eyes that were moist and hazy, lacking their usual clarity. Was he really drunk?
Su Ci quietly let out a breath. She tugged her ankle, trying to pull it free from Lu Zhe’s hand, but she couldn’t. “Let go.”
“This belongs to Tuan Tuan.” Lu Zhe repeated.
His large hand tightened around Su Ci’s slender ankle. Lowering his head, he began pulling at the red string. It was obvious he intended to remove it from her ankle and return it to his Tuan Tuan.
Su Ci didn’t bother arguing with a drunk person. She placed her hands on either side for support and let her foot rest on Lu Zhe’s half-kneeling leg.
The skin of this body Su Ci now had was truly exquisite — pure snow-white all over, smooth and delicate. Even her two snow-white feet were beautifully cute, and perhaps because they were so tender, her small toes and ankles carried a faint, pale pink hue.
Slim, fragile.
Held in the young man’s large hand, it felt as if a light bend would be enough to break them.
Lu Zhe lowered his gaze, seriously working to untie the red string around her ankle.
The little jade gourd on the red string swayed nonstop.
She didn’t know if it was because of the early-stage ALS, but Lu Zhe’s hands were always icy cold. His slightly calloused fingers kept brushing against the top of her foot, tingling so much that Su Ci’s calves broke out in tiny goosebumps.
Usually, she was carried by Lu Zhe and didn’t need to walk, so Su Ci never felt anything. But now that her foot was being held like this, she realized that not only were her rabbit ears sensitive — even her feet were overly sensitive.
She had seen online before that real little rabbits didn’t let people touch their feet casually. Their little paws were a rabbit’s sensitive spot.
Now, feeling that wave after wave of ticklish, tingling sensation, she fully understood — yes, extremely sensitive!
“Hurry up.” Su Ci couldn’t stand it and withdrew her foot slightly.
Even drunk, Lu Zhe’s long fingers were still very nimble. With a few movements, he untied the red string from the girl’s ankle.
Pulling her foot back, Su Ci stepped onto the cold floor. Only then did the itch in her sole fade a little. She quietly watched Lu Zhe, curious to see what astonishing thing he would do next.
Taking back the red string, Lu Zhe didn’t spare a single glance at the breathtakingly beautiful Su Ci sitting on the bed. Holding the red string, he began searching the room for the rabbit.
Su Ci could tell what he was doing. Ahem — she was right there on the bed. Where did he think he was going to find her?
She stretched out her long leg and nudged the drunken boy who was rummaging through the drawers by the desk. Kindly, she told him, “Stop looking. I’m here.”
Lu Zhe turned around and shot her a disdainful glance. “Tuan Tuan is prettier than you.”
Su Ci shot up from the bed at once. He could insult her in any way — except saying she wasn’t good-looking.
How could her rabbit form possibly be prettier than how she looked now?
She called out to Fugui, “Who is the most beautiful in the world?”
Fugui clearly heard the grit in Su Ci’s teeth.【In Fugui’s heart, the master is the most beautiful in the world.】
Su Ci huffed softly. See, that’s how a normal person should talk.
Over there, Lu Zhe’s pitch-black eyes were growing more and more glossy, his rigid, pale face turning increasingly red — clearly the drunkenness had fully taken hold.
He turned his head and walked toward the fair-faced Su Ci. “For Tuan Tuan.”
Su Ci stared blankly as Lu Zhe crouched down again, took hold of her ankle once more, and put the same red string he had just removed… back onto her.
Ha. He was truly, thoroughly drunk.

Over at the Zhao household.
Li Changfang grabbed Zhao Youyou by the collar and slapped her directly.
Her palm was thick and heavy, and the sound of the slap was loud. It stunned Zhao Youyou completely.
One slap landed, and a bright red handprint immediately appeared on her pale cheek. The side of her face visibly swelled.
“You hit my daughter? I’ll fight you!” Zhao Mother rushed forward the moment she saw her daughter get struck and began attacking Li Changfang.
Li Changfang was broad and heavyset. The thin Zhao Mother was no match for her. She forcibly took several slaps from Li Changfang, but she didn’t suffer in silence — her hand was tightly yanking Li Changfang’s hair.
When Dong Jian saw Zhao Father try to join in, he immediately blocked him, and the two men began scuffling as well.
The Zhao household descended into chaos in an instant.
Zhao Youyou stared blankly, her face stinging as tears streamed down her cheeks. She never expected things to escalate like this.
She had read some rebirth novels before — the heroines in them always won the lottery, bought houses, made a fortune after reincarnating. Why was it that when it came to her, it turned into this?
“Stop fighting, stop fighting.” Zhao Youyou didn’t dare go forward. She was so anxious she stomped her feet beside them.
“You little wretch, hand over the lottery ticket… give it back and we’ll stop,” Li Changfang pressed down on Zhao Mother while slapping her.
Zhao Mother refused to release the other woman’s hair. “Get lost, the lottery ticket belongs to our family.”
Stealing her money was the same as stealing her life.
Zhao Youyou had no choice — she called the police.
Even though Zhao Youyou had lied and Zhao Mother’s birthdate didn’t match the numbers on the winning ticket, everything had happened before the ticket was drawn. Even if Zhao Youyou had deceived them, she had only deceived two yuan. From the police’s perspective, she couldn’t possibly have known that the ticket would win beforehand.
Moreover, Zhao Youyou had paid one hundred yuan to buy the ticket from Dong Jian. It was a consensual exchange, so the ticket rightfully belonged to Zhao Youyou.
As for the lottery shop owner’s testimony, it only proved that Zhao Youyou indeed paid one hundred yuan to buy the ticket from Dong Jian.
With no choice but to agree to mediation, the furious Dong Jian and Li Changfang walked out of the police station, teeth gritted. When they saw the Zhao family coming out behind them, Li Changfang spat viciously.
“We’ll settle this slowly.” Their family lived on the eighth floor, the Zhao family on the fifth. Dealing with them wouldn’t be difficult.
They couldn’t commit anything illegal, but doing things to disgust the Zhao family? That was still possible.
The next day, when Zhao Youyou opened the door, she saw her doorway covered in garbage, even streaked with foul-smelling liquid. The stench nearly made her vomit her breakfast.
She finally understood what Li Changfang meant by “we’ll settle this slowly.”

The room was very quiet.
When Lu Zhe woke up, daylight had already brightened the sky. Warm morning sunlight streamed in, falling onto the dim gray bed, stabbing his eyes enough to make him close them again.
After a long while, Lu Zhe opened his eyes once more, clarity returning to the pitch-black pupils.
His head ached a little.
He remembered drinking with Boss Fang last night. It seemed he got drunk, and then he dreamt the whole night.
In the dream, he was holding the rabbit’s little foot, helping it put on a red string.
No — he also dreamed of a girl. She, too, had a red string tied around her ankle. He couldn’t see her face clearly, but he knew her skin was very fair.
She scolded him softly, telling him not to fool around.
Lu Zhe’s long eyelashes lowered, hiding the look in his eyes. When he got up, he noticed that his school uniform was placed beside him, and the rabbit’s body was nestled inside it, only its little head poking out, sleeping soundly.
Not far away lay the red string, taken off its little foot.
When they arrived in the classroom, Su Ci was taken out from Lu Zhe’s backpack, and only then did she wake up.
She had also forgotten how long Lu Zhe had fussed around last night — repeating the cycle of removing and putting on the red string. In the end, she was too sleepy and dozed off in a hazy blur.
She didn’t expect that after falling asleep, she would turn back into a rabbit again.
Don’t ask how she felt about it. If you had to ask — regret! She let Lu Zhe’s antics distract her and forgot to take the chance to kiss him a few more times.
Looking up again at the boy with the stiff, cold face and the firm jawline, she could hardly imagine that this was the same person who acted like a fool last night, holding her foot and fussing with it for half the night.
Su Ci lowered her head to look at her own little paws. This morning, he had wrapped the red string back on again.
“ I heard there’s a transfer student in our class.”
“I just walked past the teachers’ office and saw him. He’s tall and handsome, and he even donated a whole library building to the school.”
“God, that’s seriously a rich, tall, handsome guy, huh?”
“But we’re already in senior year… who would still transfer now?”

Zhao Youyou was in a bad mood this morning. Zhao Mother wanted to confront that family, but Zhao Youyou stopped her — there was no proof it was them. Besides, she didn’t want her mother arguing with those unreasonable people again, afraid it would turn into another fight.
Her cheek, slapped by Li Changfang, was still swollen and red. Even after a whole night, the swelling hadn’t gone down, and it hurt whenever she moved her face to speak.
She sniffed, feeling wronged deep in her heart. Whether it was claiming credit for the rescue the day before yesterday, or the matter of the lottery ticket, she still felt she had been wronged.
She did save someone — she hadn’t lied. It was just that the person she saved was different, that was all. Her conscience was clear.
As for the lottery ticket, she paid for it. It was a proper and legitimate transaction — both sides agreed. It was Dong Jian who later changed the numbers himself; that couldn’t be blamed on her.
Biting her lip, Zhao Youyou’s eyes were red. When she unintentionally lifted her gaze, she saw the boy walking beside the teacher from a short distance away. His eyes carried an arrogant air, his presence strong, and he was so handsome it was impossible not to notice him.
Zhao Youyou froze instantly.
It was him?
Lying on Lu Zhe’s leg, Su Ci’s rabbit ears stood upright as she listened to the people around them murmuring. She remembered that this transfer student was the male lead of the novel, wasn’t he?
She recalled the description of the male lead in the book, then looked up at the boy above her.
Now that the male lead had appeared, the male supporting character would become even more invisible, right?
