Orange-yellow sunlight fell on the trees, filtering through the branches and leaves, casting dappled specks on the ground.
The boy in his school uniform had a tall, slender figure, his eyebrows and eyes deep and defined, holding a snow-white little rabbit in his hands. No matter how one looked at him, it was like a beautiful painting.
Su Ci’s little feet shifted uneasily. She looked at Lu Zhe with anticipation.
“Lu Zhe!”
Over there, Li Dongliang, carrying a pink backpack and wearing pink sneakers, came running over. He looked at the little rabbit in Lu Zhe’s hands, his eyes lighting up. “Lu Zhe, let me pet it.”
Seeing the fluffy, snowball-like little rabbit, not rubbing it even once was simply against the will of heaven.
“No.” Lu Zhe refused directly.
Just a little more and she felt Lu Zhe was going to kiss her, and he actually got interrupted!
Su Ci’s eyes turned red as she angrily glared at this tacky pink boy.
So annoying!
“Ah, look, the bunny is looking at me. It likes me.” Li Dongliang saw the little rabbit staring dazedly at him. He was so overwhelmed by its cuteness that his heart trembled, wishing he could reach out and rub its head.
Hah!
Su Ci rolled her eyes at him.
“Look, it’s looking at me again.”
Su Ci looked at the hand he stretched out, wanting to touch her. On the inside of his wrist were six yellow squares — sixty years!
Su Ci’s eyes grew even redder.
Were they all this long-lived?
Then she looked at Lu Zhe, holding her, only three years of lifespan. He was undoubtedly the short-lived male supporting character!
“Ah, the little rabbit is looking at my hand. It must want me to hold it.” Li Dongliang, whose face had originally been considered sunny and handsome, directly laughed like the foolish young master of a landlord’s family.
Su Ci was so angry she simply closed her eyes.
Seeing the little rabbit close its eyes, looking obedient and cute, Li Dongliang was once again overwhelmed by cuteness, his rough guy’s maiden heart thumping wildly. “Zhe-ge, isn’t the little rabbit soft? Let me pet it, just once, just a little.”
When had the little tyrant of the class ever begged someone? For the sake of rubbing a rabbit, he didn’t care about face at all. He was about to be cutened into a nosebleed.
Lu Zhe dodged the hand Li Dongliang reached out. He glanced at him lightly. “Jia Mingyang still has four laps.” After speaking, he turned and left with the rabbit in his arms.
Unable to touch the rabbit, Li Dongliang cried in despair, loudly shouting at Jia Mingyang, who looked like a dying dog over there: “Jia Mingyang, you’re so slow. Are you even a man? Running this slow, don’t delay my going home to eat.”
Over there, Jia Mingyang was running himself half to death. He panted, his clothes soaked through. Hearing Li Dongliang’s words, a breath got stuck in his chest, nearly choking him to death.
Who needed him supervising here?
Get lost!
Lu Zhe worked part-time at the computer shop on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends.
The owner of the computer shop was a plump man, not very tall, with fat on both sides of his face, and curly, slightly messy hair.
“You’re here, kid. All right, watch the shop. Son, keep your Zhe-ge company here. Dad’s going upstairs to make you food.” Boss Fang took the keys from the table and went upstairs.
Boss Fang’s son, Fang Kuaile, was a little over three years old this year, almost four. He was fair and tender, with delicate features. His appearance did not resemble Boss Fang very much.
He sat in a mini wheelchair. When he saw Lu Zhe arrive, he struggled to turn the tiny wheels himself and came to Lu Zhe’s side, obediently greeting him, “Zhe-gege, you’re five minutes late today.”
The little guy was very smart. He had long learned how to tell time, and he could already do addition and subtraction within one hundred.
Lu Zhe’s cold, large hand patted his head. His thin lips curved slightly. “Mm, something came up today.” He put his backpack down, unzipped it, and took out the rabbit, afraid it would feel too stuffy if it stayed inside.
Little Kuaile looked at the tiny snow-white bundle on the table. His black, shiny eyes instantly widened. “B-bunny…”
He was a little scared, yet a little fond. “Zhe-gege, this is a bunny.”
“Mm.”
Little Kuaile gazed at the bunny enviously. “The bunny has four legs, so it must run very fast.”
The child before her had a tender, childish voice and features carved like jade, like a little angel. Yet Su Ci noticed he was sitting in a wheelchair, without legs.
An angel with its wings broken.
“Daddy said that when he has enough money, he’ll help Kuaile get two legs. Then I’ll be able to walk, and I’ll be able to run fast-fast like the bunny.” Little Kuaile’s tone was cheerful.
He didn’t know that even with prosthetics, just walking normally would require enduring a lot of hardship, let alone running like a normal person.
A hint of regret appeared in Su Ci’s eyes.
“Zhe-gege, what’s the bunny’s name?” Little Kuaile asked Lu Zhe.
Lu Zhe answered straightforwardly. “None.”
“Ah, the bunny doesn’t have a name?” Little Kuaile’s small mouth opened wide in shock. “Hurry and give it a name, or it’ll be sad.”
Lu Zhe was silent for a moment.
He looked at the snowball-like rabbit and casually said, “Tuan Tuan.”
“The bunny is called Tuan Tuan?” Little Kuaile blinked his big, shiny black eyes.
“Mm.”
Su Ci hadn’t expected Lu Zhe to give her a name.
What Tuan Tuan? A lump? Or was he saying she was fat like a ball?
No matter how she thought about it, it wasn’t a good name. She huffed through her nose in disgust. Ugly name rejected!
“Zhe-gege, will Tuan Tuan bite people?” Little Kuaile asked again.
“No.”
Hearing this, Little Kuaile reached out his hand. His short little fingers gently tapped the bunny. His eyes lit up. “Tuan Tuan, be good, don’t bite Kuaile.” As he spoke, his little fingers tapped the bunny again.
Just such a simple touch made Little Kuaile grin widely, showing his little white teeth.
Su Ci didn’t move.
She saw the life value on the inside of his wrist. On the grid was only a thin line of red, not filling a single square at all.
Su Ci leaned closer to his wrist. Next to the grid, it was marked: 1 day.
He only had one day of life?
Su Ci’s reddened eyes were filled with shock. She could not imagine that the fair, tender child before her had only one day left to live.
She called out to Fugui. “He only has one day of lifespan left? Could it be a mistake?”
Fugui: 【There will be no mistake!】
Su Ci met Little Kuaile’s black, shiny, smiling eyes. She asked Fugui, “Can he be saved? If I kiss him, can his lifespan increase?”
Fugui: 【I don’t know if you can save him, but kissing only works on Lu Zhe. It has no effect on others.】
Su Ci: “You don’t know?”
Fugui: 【The previous masters could only see one person’s life value. There has never been a case like you, able to see everyone’s. So I don’t know whether you can save others.】
Su Ci: “Oh.”
Fugui: 【Don’t be sad.】
Su Ci: “I’m not sad. Lifespan is fated.”
Su Ci accepted it quickly. Before she came here, she had died from a heart attack. She was also someone who had died young.
Fugui had thought the new master would cry softly and beg him to think of a way to save the child. After all, the former master was a kind girl with strong tear ducts and abundant sympathy. He didn’t expect the current master to have such a cold heart?
Knowing her kisses only worked on Lu Zhe made Su Ci breathe a sigh of relief. She was not a savior, nor did she want to bear such a burden. Right now she was just a pitiful, weak, helpless little bunny who couldn’t even take care of herself.
Little Kuaile saw the rabbit hop toward him, and his round eyes grew even brighter.
He took out the two candies he had hidden in his pocket, the ones he couldn’t bear to eat. Thoughtfully peeling the wrappers, he offered the candy to the rabbit. “This is candy-candy. One for you, one for me. We’re good friends now.” The little guy remembered his dad saying that good children should learn to share.
“It can’t eat candy.” Lu Zhe sat at the nearby computer, both hands operating the keyboard as he spoke coldly.
“I know. Bunnies eat carrots.” Little Kuaile’s black, shiny eyes curved as he smiled, so cute it could melt a person’s heart.
Thinking of how he had fed this rabbit carrots for three days straight after picking it up, a trace of embarrassment flashed deep in Lu Zhe’s pitch-black eyes.
Lu Zhe’s working hours at the computer shop were from six to nine in the evening, three hours, and on Saturdays and Sundays from nine in the morning to six in the evening.
As night deepened, the crescent moon peeked out from behind the clouds.
Lu Zhe left with the rabbit in his hands.
On both sides of the street outside the computer shop were many street stalls. Passing by an elderly woman’s small trinket stall, he stopped.
“Young man, take a look. The accessories here are very popular with girls.” The elderly woman sitting on a small stool spoke with a smile.
Lu Zhe picked up a bracelet from the stall. The red cord was thin, with a small green gourd the size of a fingernail tied to it. Even with the poor surrounding light, it was clear the little gourd was plastic and not of good quality.
“Young man, are you buying the bracelet for your girlfriend? I have better ones here.”
The old woman took out another bracelet from the bag hanging at her waist. The red cord had a fingernail-sized white jade-colored gourd tied to it, clearly of much better quality than the one in Lu Zhe’s hand.
“If you’re buying it for your girlfriend, buy this one. She’ll definitely like it.” It was the first time the old woman had seen such a well-featured young man, and she didn’t want to cheat him.
“Not a girlfriend.” Lu Zhe put down the bracelet in his hand, took the one the old woman handed over, and then tied the red cord around the rabbit’s hind leg.
The jade-colored little gourd looked exceptionally adorable on the little bunny’s foot.
Su Ci shook her little feet, and the tiny gourd on them trembled along with the movement. Lu Zhe gave this to her?
She looked up, but only saw the boy’s hard, cold jawline.
Lu Zhe asked, “How much?”
“Ai, the gourd on this bracelet is made from leftover jade material, so it’s not cheap. It’s three hundred. If you’re buying it for a rabbit, the one just now is fine. That one was only thirty.” The elderly woman was simple and straightforward in her speech.
“Mm, I’ll take this one.” Lu Zhe paid directly and left with the rabbit in his arms.
At the stall, the old woman held the three hundred in her hands, stunned that the young man bought such an expensive bracelet for a rabbit.
The streetlights cast one shadow after another across the road.
Nestled in Lu Zhe’s hands, Su lowered her head to look at the red cord on her foot. It was a bit shabby. This was the first time she had worn such a cheap ornament.

The next morning.
Lu Zhe opened his backpack. As expected, the little snowball-like rabbit had somehow snuck inside again. He took it out.
“Stay at home.” Lu Zhe lifted the rabbit to eye level and lightly tapped its pale pink nose.
Caught again, Su Ci snorted angrily, completely frustrated. Would she never have a chance to turn back into a human in this lifetime?
Thinking of this, she bit down with her rabbit teeth, pulled her two legs back, and in the next second, without hesitation, she jumped with all her strength, charging straight toward the enlarged handsome face before her.
Lu Zhe was startled at first, then caught the slipping rabbit. His mouth was bumped by the rabbit. It didn’t hurt, but it felt strange.
He lowered his eyes to look at it, only feeling that its pair of red eyes shone astonishingly bright.
Letting out a sigh, Lu Zhe put the rabbit back into the cardboard box. He placed rabbit food in the small bowl beside it. He should go buy a rabbit cage soon.
Closing the door.
Lu Zhe walked slowly. He felt the numbness in his left leg was even worse than yesterday.
Perhaps before long, even walking would become a problem.
The bedroom was very quiet.
The red string wrapped around the snow-white, slender ankle, the jade-colored little gourd appearing even more delicate and exquisite against the pale foot.
Su Ci stared blankly at her body. Snow-white all over, curvy and shapely, her long ink-black hair covering the surging front. Just this figure alone was already beautiful like a little seductress.
Realizing she wasn’t wearing any clothes, Su Ci immediately yanked the gray bedsheet off the bed to cover herself.
