Lu Zhe came back after filling the water. He found that the rabbit that had originally been on the table had somehow jumped down to the floor.
He picked up the little snowball-like baby rabbit.
Falling into the boy’s icy-cold palm, Su Ci let out a breath. She was exhausted.
The class bell rang. The students returned to the classroom one after another. After a period of PE, everyone’s energy was good, the atmosphere lively and noisy as they chatted and horsed around.
Amid the bustle, Lu Zhe, who sat quietly reading, appeared unusually cold and aloof.
Li Dongliang walked in while dribbling a basketball. His whole body was covered in sweat, his hair and back drenched. He returned to his seat, twisted open a drink and gulped several mouthfuls, then leaned back in his chair. He looked at Lu Zhe beside him. All the boys in class had gone to play basketball, and yet he could only sit alone in the classroom. Tsk, he was actually quite pitiful.
In the front row, Jia Mingyang was searching for his watch.
“It’s gone.” Jia Mingyang frowned and rummaged through his drawer.
His deskmate beside him said in surprise, “How could it disappear for no reason? Did you leave it somewhere?”
He remembered that Jia Mingyang’s watch had been bought at the beginning of the month. It was said to be something his father brought back from abroad, its price in the five digits. When he showed it to everyone back then, it had caused a wave of envy.
“I put my watch in the drawer before PE class. It’s impossible that I left it anywhere else.” Jia Mingyang’s tone was certain.
“Could it have been stolen?” the deskmate exclaimed.
“My watch doesn’t have legs. It was definitely stolen.”
Jia Mingyang walked straight to the last row. He slapped Lu Zhe’s desk and directly questioned, “Did you steal my watch?”
Inside the drawer, Su Ci heard the boy questioning Lu Zhe. She perked up her rabbit ears, ready to watch the drama.
Lu Zhe lifted his eyelids and looked at him.
“My watch is gone. Just now, you were the only one in the classroom. Was it you who stole it?” Jia Mingyang’s voice was loud, drawing the attention of the surrounding students. Zhao Youyou had just returned to the classroom and was stunned when she heard his words.
Meeting Lu Zhe’s cold and indifferent gaze, Jia Mingyang was not afraid. “Give me back my watch.”
Lu Zhe said, “I don’t have your watch.”
“My watch was put in my drawer. Just now, you were the only one in the classroom. If you didn’t take it, who did?” Jia Mingyang’s tone was certain, causing the surrounding crowd to whisper.
Lu Zhe sneered coldly. “You’re talking nonsense without evidence.”
Jia Mingyang lifted his chin. “Whether I’m talking nonsense or not, we’ll know once we search your backpack.”
Li Dongliang did not get along with Jia Mingyang. He lazily spoke up to retort, “You have no evidence. Why should you search someone else’s things? If you think your watch was stolen, just go check the surveillance.”
“Heh, the surveillance broke two days ago.” A hint of pride flashed in Jia Mingyang’s eyes. He looked at Lu Zhe. “If you won’t let us search, then I’ll get the teacher to search it.”
Inside the drawer, Su Ci snorted. This boy was shameless.
“Wait.” Zhao Youyou walked over. “We’re all classmates. There’s no need to blow this up.”
She remembered that in the previous life, the same thing had happened. Lu Zhe refused to let them search his backpack, and Jia Mingyang reported it to the teacher. In the end, the teacher found the watch in Lu Zhe’s bag. Even though Lu Zhe did not admit to it, the evidence was there, and he received a demerit from the school.
She could not let the same thing happen again.
Zhao Youyou looked at Lu Zhe with a complicated expression, then softly asked Jia Mingyang, “If he lets you search his backpack, will you not go to the teacher?”
Jia Mingyang’s attitude toward the suddenly pretty Zhao Youyou was still decent. “Yeah. But if my watch really was stolen by Lu Zhe, he has to apologize to me, and run ten laps around the track.”
At that, the people around them clicked their tongues.
Running ten laps might only be tiring for others, but for Lu Zhe—who couldn’t even attend PE class—this was basically asking for half his life. That punishment was vicious.
“Ge, let him search. Running ten laps is better than making a huge scene.” Zhao Youyou’s tone was soft as she tried to persuade Lu Zhe.
Zhao Youyou analyzed it. In the previous life, everyone in school learned that Lu Zhe was a thief. He suffered discrimination and insults everywhere. Now, he only needed to apologize and run laps to settle the matter. Clearly, choosing the latter was more favorable.
Inside the drawer, Su Ci ground her little rabbit teeth. The meaning in Zhao Youyou’s words—wasn’t that directly admitting Lu Zhe took the watch?
Was Zhao Youyou helping Lu Zhe or trapping him? As his nominal younger sister, shouldn’t she at least trust him a little?
Su Ci was so angry she let out a snort. She secretly poked her little head out of the drawer and lifted it to look at Lu Zhe.
The boy sat in his chair, his face stiff and cold, eyelids lowered. His thick lashes carried a chill, and his thin lips curved with mockery. “Why should I agree to that.”
Like a boneless noodle, Li Dongliang leaned back in his chair watching the show, occasionally chiming in, “Jia Mingyang, you only mentioned the punishment if Lu Zhe stole the watch. What if he didn’t take it? What if he’s being wrongfully blamed for nothing? That’s way too unfair.”
“If Lu Zhe didn’t steal my watch, I’ll apologize to him and run ten laps. That’s fair enough, right?” Jia Mingyang said carelessly.
“Fifteen laps,” Lu Zhe said coldly.
Jia Mingyang agreed immediately. “Fine. I’m searching your backpack.” He had disliked Lu Zhe for a long time. Before Lu Zhe’s background and terminal illness were exposed, the school beauty, Jiang Mengqi, had liked Lu Zhe.
If Lu Zhe became a proven thief, the school beauty would definitely regret liking someone like him—and regret rejecting him for that very person.
“Ge, let him search.” Knowing the outcome of the previous life, Zhao Youyou truly hoped the matter wouldn’t escalate.
“Hurry up and bring the backpack. Give me back my watch.” Jia Mingyang directly reached out and yanked the bag out from the drawer.
Su Ci, who had been watching the show with one tiny foot stepping on the strap, was dragged along when the backpack was pulled away. She flipped head over heels inside the drawer.
Luckily, it didn’t hurt—but she was furious.
With the backpack in hand, Jia Mingyang’s eyes shone with excitement. Right in front of everyone, he opened it and dumped all its contents onto the desk.
Keys, books, notebooks, pens.
Nothing else.
Where was his watch?
Jia Mingyang froze. He turned the backpack upside down—empty. Completely empty.
“Where did you hide my watch? Why isn’t it in your backpack?” Jia Mingyang questioned loudly.
Zhao Youyou also looked stunned. The watch wasn’t in the backpack?
Lu Zhe stood up. He was tall and broad, his face stiff and cold, his presence making one’s heart inexplicably chill. He sneered, “You see there’s no watch in the bag, and you still want to frame me?”
“I clearly…” Jia Mingyang gritted his teeth in anger.
“Apologize,” Lu Zhe said coldly as he stared at him.
Jia Mingyang clenched his hands, looking both embarrassed and furious.
“Jia Mingyang, is this your watch?”
Over there, a boy picked up a watch from beside the trash can. Its surface was cracked, and something sticky was smeared on it—it must have been juice someone had thrown out.
Seeing his beloved watch broken and filthy, Jia Mingyang’s expression instantly turned ugly.
“The watch is found. Tsk, Jia Mingyang, your accusations really come straight out of your mouth. Hurry up and apologize.” Seeing Jia Mingyang deflate, Li Dongliang was in an extremely good mood.
“Sorry!” Jia Mingyang forced the words out, his face flushing red with humiliation. Why was his watch over by the trash can!
Lu Zhe sat back down, his tone indifferent. “See you on the track after school.”
Li Dongliang couldn’t stop laughing. “Yes, yes, yes—Jia Mingyang, you have to run fifteen laps. The whole class heard it. Don’t even think about denying it.”
Jia Mingyang shot Li Dongliang a vicious glare and stormed off in anger.
Zhao Youyou looked dazed. She wanted to say something to Lu Zhe, but he didn’t spare her a single glance.

The class bell rang. After watching the spectacle, everyone quickly returned to their seats.
Li Dongliang was just about to lie down and sleep when, in the next second, he saw a white snowball spring out of his deskmate’s drawer and land on Lu Zhe’s lap.
His eyes widened in shock.
It was a palm-sized baby rabbit, its fur snowy white, its ears pink and white, its eyes red like gemstones. Dear heavens—so cute!
Watching the little rabbit obediently rub its tiny head against Lu Zhe’s palm—soft, fluffy, adorable—was enough to make one’s heart tremble.
Li Dongliang immediately dragged his desk boundary line toward Lu Zhe’s side. He leaned over. “Lu Zhe, you brought a rabbit to school?”
The rabbit rubbed against his palm, making it itch. “Mm.”
“Let me pet it.”
Li Dongliang’s eyes were glued to the little rabbit, unwilling to look away. That tiny ball—rubbing it must feel so soft.
“No.” Lu Zhe looked at the blackboard as he lightly pinched the rabbit’s ear tip between two fingers.
Su Ci’s rabbit ears were very sensitive. Being teased by Lu Zhe’s long fingers, she went soft and collapsed straight down.
Don’t pinch her ears!
Unwilling to give up, Li Dongliang thickened his skin. Just moments ago he was the class tyrant; now he was crouching down meekly. “I helped you talk back to Jia Mingyang just now. Let me touch the little rabbit.”
Li Dongliang was tall and broad, but he had loved pink and fluffy little animals since he was young. His backpack was a flashy pink, his shoes were pink, his socks were pink too. If it weren’t for the school uniform, he would definitely wear pink every day. As for fluffy animals—his mother was allergic to fur, so he couldn’t keep any at home; otherwise, he’d definitely raise ten.
Now that he saw this soft, adorable little rabbit, he wished he could grab it and rub it immediately.
Lu Zhe directly exposed him. “You were just watching the show.”
Li Dongliang’s face was thick. He immediately offered conditions. “I’ll buy you breakfast for a month. Let me touch it.”
Lu Zhe refused. “No.”
“Then I’ll give you a hundred yuan. Lend me the rabbit for an hour?” Li Dongliang knew Lu Zhe had been kicked out of his adoptive father’s house and needed treatment. He definitely didn’t have much money.
Su Ci lifted her head to glance at this brainless fan. She absolutely did not want him messing up her fur. She wrapped her two paws around Lu Zhe’s fingers and buried her head into his palm.
Lu Zhe’s palm felt warm with the snowball nuzzling into it. He curled his lips. “No.”
Li Dongliang still wanted to say something, but the math teacher on the podium shot him a sharp glare. He closed his mouth awkwardly and could only watch with longing eyes as Lu Zhe petted the rabbit.
The rabbit’s ears were pink and white—so cute.
The rabbit’s nose was also a pale pink—so cute.
The rabbit’s little feet were fluffy and white—so cute.
Li Dongliang gradually turned into a complete simp.

After school.
Su Ci was being held by Lu Zhe. She sat upright on his cold palm as she watched Jia Mingyang running miserably on the track, drenched in sweat under the scorching sun.
Serves him right!
Thinking about how she had bitten that watch and thrown it beside the trash can and couldn’t even wash her mouth afterward—Su Ci wished she could make him run a few more laps.
When Jia Mingyang reached his tenth lap, his speed grew slower and slower. Lu Zhe’s expression did not change; he didn’t feel the slightest sympathy.
During the confrontation, Jia Mingyang had been certain the watch would be in his backpack. When he searched it and found it empty, his face had been stunned.
He had been stunned that the watch wasn’t in the bag.
Lu Zhe’s gaze sank.
So, Jia Mingyang had indeed placed the watch into his backpack, but for some unknown reason, the watch ended up by the trash can.
He lowered his head to look at the rabbit in his palm, remembering that when he returned from filling water, the rabbit had been on the floor.
He lifted the rabbit to eye level, their gazes meeting.
Su Ci blinked. Her red eyes were watery and bright.
She was the kind to demand repayment for grace. Quickly—kiss her!
