She heard the doctor say that if help hadn’t arrived in time, the child would have died from excessive blood loss.
Thinking about it now, fear washed over her until she trembled all over, cold sweat breaking out as though she could already see the unbearable pain of losing her son.
She didn’t know which kindhearted person had helped her call the ambulance so quickly. Once her son recovered, she would pray every day for that good-hearted person after returning home.
At this moment, Su Ci was already asleep. Only Fugui knew that its master had gained another piece of golden cotton candy.

Su Ci’s cold came quickly and went quickly. In less than three days, her rabbit ears had disappeared.
When she saw Lu Zhe handing her money, Su Ci blinked. “Why are you suddenly giving me money?”
“I’ll be gone in a few days. You’ll have to take care of your meals yourself.” Lu Zhe looked at the girl sitting on the sofa. The rabbit ears on her head had vanished, and she had returned to her usual appearance.
“Where are you going?” Su Ci didn’t take the money.
“I’m going to B City for a competition.” The teacher had approached him earlier and helped him sign up for the national Hope Cup mathematics competition.
Upon hearing this, Su Ci immediately said without thinking, “I’ll go with you.”
She absolutely did not want to stay here alone. Those food deliveries were not tasty at all, how could they compare to Lu Zhe’s cooking?
Lu Zhe seemed to have expected she would say that. “You can’t come.” He looked at her. “You don’t have any documents. You can’t get on the plane.”
Su Ci froze.
She remembered that she indeed didn’t have an ID card right now, so she couldn’t board a flight.
Su Ci looked at Lu Zhe with frustration. “You’re very happy that I can’t follow you, aren’t you?”
The girl’s small expression was as pitiful as could be. If her rabbit ears were still present, they would surely be drooping right now, and her watery eyes would be accusing him.
Lu Zhe rarely saw her looking defeated like this. A hint of amusement hidden deep within his black eyes. “No.”
Su Ci huffed angrily.
The next second, remembering something, she suddenly smiled. “It doesn’t matter if I don’t have an ID. As long as I turn back into a rabbit, you can bring a rabbit on the plane.”
Su Ci happily stood up. “I really am a little genius. Lu Zhe, I’m going to pack my clothes first. Later, you help me bring them.”
Watching the girl skip back into her room, the hem of her sky-blue skirt disappearing through the doorway, Lu Zhe pinched the space between his eyebrows.
By the time they arrived in B City, it was already afternoon. The sunlight was still harsh.
After stepping out of the airport, Lu Zhe took the rabbit out of the cage and held her in his hands.
Su Ci had been cooped up inside the oxygenated cabin for so long that she had been miserable. Now that Lu Zhe was holding her, she finally felt more comfortable.
Standing nearby, Zhao Youyou hadn’t expected Lu Zhe to be so fond of this rabbit. Even when attending a competition, he brought it along. “Ge, can I hold it for a bit?” She liked soft, fluffy pets too.
Su Ci knew that Zhao Youyou had come to participate in the competition as well. With the protection of the heroine aura, the teacher gave her one of the competition slots.
She remembered that because Zhao Youyou came to participate, it stirred up quite a bit of discussion. Several female supporting characters who disliked Zhao Youyou even gave her a hard time, mocking her for dragging down the school.
Su Ci knew that in this competition, Zhao Youyou would be like someone who had activated cheats—she would win third place and fiercely slap the faces of those female supporting characters.
But none of that had anything to do with her.
Now hearing that Zhao Youyou wanted to hold her, Su Ci’s red eyes rolled. She still remembered the first time Zhao Youyou held her—she had plucked her rabbit fur.
Su Ci reached out her two little paws and wrapped them around Lu Zhe’s fingers. Her ruby-like rabbit eyes stared warningly at Lu Zhe: do not let anyone else hold her!
Zhao Youyou reached out, wanting to pick up the rabbit.
Lu Zhe refused, “No. It doesn’t like you.”
Su Ci lifted her head to look up at the boy, then happily rubbed her little head against his palm.
Zhao Youyou hadn’t expected Lu Zhe to be so direct. Even though she was used to his cold personality, she still felt humiliated.
There were five people in total. Teacher Huang was leading the team. Besides Lu Zhe and Zhao Youyou, there were two other students participating.
When they arrived at the hotel, Teacher Huang began assigning rooms.
Zhao Youyou and another girl would share a double room, and Lu Zhe would stay with the other boy.
“Excuse me, I’d like a room to myself.” Lu Zhe spoke to Teacher Huang. “I can pay for my own room.”
Teacher Huang remembered that Lu Zhe had health issues, so it was understandable that it would be inconvenient for him to share a room. “No need for you to pay yourself. I’ll go arrange another room.”
In the end, Lu Zhe received a room key. His room was on the seventeenth floor, different from Zhao Youyou and the others.
Just as he pushed open the door and walked in, the rabbit in his hands was already impatiently tapping his palm with her little paw—hurry up and kiss her.
Lu Zhe lowered his gaze. The rabbit in his hand was staring at him with her pair of red eyes, filled with urgency.
His cold hand reached over and stroked her head. The fluffy texture felt wonderful.
She really was cuter as a little rabbit.
After petting her several times, Lu Zhe carried the rabbit into the bathroom.
Lowering his head, he kissed the little rabbit’s mouth once. Then he placed the small rabbit on the floor and took out the prepared clothes from his backpack, hanging them to the side.
Lu Zhe stepped out.
The door closed. After a while, the small snowball-like baby rabbit on the floor transformed into a slender young girl.
Her long black hair draped down her back. Su Ci covered her chest as she stood up. She casually glanced at the mirror—tsk, all snowy white and dazzling color. Truly a little enchantress.
The bathroom door opened.
Su Ci came out. She had already changed into a light misty-purple silk dress. The ethereal color made her skin look even fairer and more translucent. “Finally changed back.”
She walked over and sat on the bed.
“I ordered you food. The staff will bring it up later.”
“And you?” Su Ci’s bare feet hadn’t slipped into shoes yet. Standing on the gray carpet, her small feet looked even whiter and more delicate.
“I’m going downstairs soon to meet Teacher Huang and the others. After dinner, we’ll go check the competition venue.” Lu Zhe unpacked Su Ci’s luggage and neatly placed it to the side.
It was a completely ordinary, simple task, but when Lu Zhe did it, it looked especially handsome.
Su Ci nodded and didn’t unreasonably insist on following him.
She looked around the guest room. Since it was a single room, it wasn’t very big. In the middle was a large bed, in front of it the TV cabinet and television, and by the window were two single lounge chairs and a small coffee table.
Thinking of something, Su Ci nudged Lu Zhe who was standing before the TV cabinet with her toe.
The boy turned around.
He saw the girl’s black eyes curved with a smile, a familiar hint of mischief flickering within them.
Sure enough, the next second he heard her say, “Lu Zhe, there’s only one bed here. Are we sleeping together tonight?”
His temples pulsed.
Lu Zhe took a deep breath. “I’ll ask the staff to bring another blanket.”
Su Ci smiled triumphantly. “Even with another blanket, we’ll still be sharing the same bed.”
Even if she slept beside him at night, she didn’t believe Lu Zhe would try anything. Usually, she had to beg and cling to him just to get a kiss, and even then he was reluctant. She had suspected more than once that his aesthetic sense was broken or that he wasn’t even a man.
Still, she loved teasing Lu Zhe, loved watching him helpless, tolerant, unable to do anything about her.
After dinner, Su Ci did not obediently stay in the room as Lu Zhe told her to. She planned to go out for a stroll.
Tianse Yayuan was a privately operated restaurant, not open to the public.
Its antique decor paired with the courtyard outside filled with green bamboo created a distinct elegance.
The group had just finished eating. As they walked out of the private room—
He family’s little tyrant, He Ermeng, strolled lazily at the back. A cigarette hung from his lips as he looked at the woman walking ahead with a poised demeanor. His expression was displeased. “She really thinks she’s the young lady of the Su family.”
Beside him, Shen Jun pushed up his glasses. “She was raised in the Su family since childhood. Now that the real daughter of the Su family is gone, the Su parents still miss their daughter. Treating her as a substitute isn’t surprising. Given the chance, it’s normal for her to climb up. Still, I didn’t expect someone who used to look like a little white rabbit to hide so deeply.”
He Ermeng removed the cigarette from his lips. “A substitute? She deserves that?”
The group reached the entrance to retrieve their cars.
Qin Shiyan turned back. She removed her sunglasses, and under the harsh sunlight, the small tear mole at the end of her eye was striking. “My agent is waiting for me. I have a schedule this afternoon. It was a pleasure dining with you all today. Let’s meet again next time.”
Shen Jun smiled gently and nodded.
Qin Shiyan returned his smile—gentle, elegant—but the next second, she froze as she looked into the distance.
Following her gaze, He Ermeng looked over. In an instant, he clenched the cigarette between his fingers so hard that it burned him, and he didn’t even notice. “It’s her?”
In a flash, the slim figure of the girl disappeared around the corner.
He Ermeng threw away the crushed cigarette and immediately rushed toward that direction.
Qin Shiyan snapped back to herself. “Young Master He, you saw wrong.”
He Ermeng glared at her fiercely. “What the hell do you know.” He didn’t even bother getting his car and ran frantically in that direction.
“Who did you all see?” Shen Jun turned to look, but he saw nothing.
Qin Shiyan’s beautiful face returned to its gentle expression, though the seductive little tear mole beneath her eye didn’t quite match her soft demeanor. “Young Master He saw a girl who looked very similar to her.”
Shen Jun understood.
This wasn’t the first time. In the past, whenever He Ermeng saw a similar back figure or side profile, he would mistake it for that person and chase after her like someone who had lost his mind.
He still couldn’t accept the fact that the Su family’s real daughter was already dead.
