The fitting room was only that tiny bit of space, very narrow, and now with two people standing inside, it felt even narrower.
Hearing Lu Zhe’s words, Su Ci glared at him fiercely. At a time like this, how could she not be anxious? A pair of rabbit ears had suddenly popped out, and just earlier the shop girl had knocked on the door many times from outside—she practically would have rammed the door down.
At such a critical moment, Lu Zhe was still being this reserved?
He wasn’t a man!
Su Ci felt both panicked and angry. She didn’t care about Lu Zhe’s words; she hurriedly pressed closer to him, both hands climbing onto his shoulders, her toes stepping on the top of his foot, her red lips going straight in to kiss him.
The girl was very anxious.
Her soft red lips carried a faint fragrance. Lu Zhe was kissed messily by her a few times, and under his palm, her slender, soft waist kept twisting restlessly.
His pitch-black eyes sank deeply.
Lu Zhe wanted to turn his head away, but the girl clung on and refused to let go.
Their breaths brushed hotly between them, and the girl’s pink-white rabbit ears were swaying right before his eyes. His gaze darkened, and at last Lu Zhe reached out his hand.
The ear was pointy and soft. He gently pinched it.
The next second, Su Ci, who had been holding onto him, suddenly went limp, her whole body powerless as she leaned against him. Her jade-colored arms weakly propped on his shoulders, and she bit Lu Zhe’s chin in anger, “Bastard, don’t pinch my ears!”
“Uu!”
Lu Zhe actually pinched her ears again!
A rabbit’s ears were filled with many blood vessels, a very fragile and sensitive place. When she had been a rabbit, Lu Zhe loved to play with her rabbit ears. Back then, when he held her and her whole body went soft, she hadn’t thought much of it. But now she had turned into a human, and he still dared to pinch her rabbit ears…
Su Ci only felt her whole body turning weak, almost unable to stand.
His chin had been bitten, and Lu Zhe let out a muffled groan from the pain. His voice was slightly low as he spoke, “Don’t make trouble.”
“Who’s making trouble?” Su Ci glared at him angrily. Who made the first move? “Lu Zhe, hurry and hold me tight, I’m about to fall.”
She really had no strength at all now.
The girl’s body was soft and delicate, carrying a young girl’s fragrance, leaning against him as if she had no bones. Her rabbit ears even brushed against his chin with fluffy strokes, ticklish.
A flicker of surprise passed through Lu Zhe’s eyes. He hadn’t expected Su Ci’s rabbit ears to be this sensitive.
The large hand on her waist shifted to embrace her, and Lu Zhe said in a low voice, “I’m sorry.” He hadn’t known that lightly pinching her ears would make her react so strongly.
Su Ci huffed angrily. She had now discovered Lu Zhe’s little quirk—he just liked playing with her rabbit ears.
She ignored him and instead touched the top of her head. She had already kissed Lu Zhe several times; why hadn’t her rabbit ears disappeared yet?
Su Ci frowned and summoned Fugui. “Why did I suddenly grow rabbit ears?”
Fugui: [Master is sick. Your energy is insufficient to maintain human form, so the rabbit ears came out.]
Su Ci remembered she really was having a cold right now, and seemed to have a bit of fever too. “I kissed Lu Zhe earlier, so why haven’t the rabbit ears gone back in yet?”
Fugui: [Once Master recovers, the rabbit ears will go back.]
Hearing Fugui’s words, Su Ci was dumbfounded.
In other words, if her cold didn’t get better, she would have to keep these rabbit ears on her head?
Fugui: [Even with rabbit ears, Master is still the most beautiful person in the world in Fugui’s eyes.]
Fugui never missed a chance to flatter. It hoped its master would pamper it more and not give all the golden cotton candy to Lu Zhe.
Su Ci felt utterly deflated. She had thought that kissing Lu Zhe would make her rabbit ears go back, so she had called Lu Zhe to save her the moment it happened. And now Fugui was telling her it was caused by her being sick.
She lifted her gaze, her black eyes seeming soaked in water, rippling with light. She leaned weakly against Lu Zhe’s chest and told him, “Lu Zhe, I’m sick.”
“Hm? Do you have a fever?” He held her, thinking it was because his own body temperature was low that she felt hot—turns out she was actually sick?
Su Ci nodded. She let out a sigh. “My rabbit ears won’t go back. I have to wait until I’m better.” She was filled with frustration. “What do I do now? How am I supposed to go back looking like this?”
There was a small stool inside the fitting room, meant for customers to place their clothes.
Lu Zhe helped the powerless Su Ci sit down on the stool. “Sit here first.”
“What are you going to do?” Su Ci looked at him, confused.
“I’ll step out for a moment.” Saying that, Lu Zhe opened the fitting room door halfway. After stepping out, he immediately closed it again.
The shop girl was busy assisting other customers. She saw the fitting room door open and a handsome boy in a school uniform walk out. Before she could ask what had happened, she saw him walk to the accessories section and pick up a white bucket hat.
“Please ring this up for me.” Lu Zhe walked to the counter to pay.
After paying, he carried the hat back to the fitting room.
The shop girl was full of curiosity. The girl inside was being so mysterious—she had no idea what was going on.
Su Ci watched Lu Zhe return, a hat in his hand.
“Put it on me.” Su Ci looked at him and spoke righteously.
The girl sat on the small stool, with a pair of pink-white rabbit ears atop her head. Her black eyes were clear, luminous, staring straight at him—like an actual little rabbit spirit.
Lu Zhe didn’t say a word. He stepped forward and brought the off-white hat down toward her head.
“Your ears…” The girl’s rabbit ears were standing upright, making it impossible to put the hat on. Lu Zhe was worried that forcing it down would hurt her.
Su Ci realized the same problem. She took a breath and tried to control her rabbit ears.
The next moment, Lu Zhe saw the two rabbit ears that had been standing upright droop down, falling softly to either side.
“How is it?” Su Ci was a little proud, she had learned to control them.
The hand holding the hat unconsciously tightened. No matter how cold or straight-laced Lu Zhe usually was, he couldn’t help the tremble in his heart from Su Ci’s appearance.
He lowered his eyes, avoiding her gaze, and quickly put the hat on her.
Su Ci turned around and looked into the full-length mirror behind her. The bucket hat was a bit big. She pressed down the brim, and it fit snugly, fully covering her rabbit ears, revealing only the lower half of her face.
Only then did Su Ci brighten up happily.
She reached out and tugged on the hem of Lu Zhe’s clothes. “Okay, we can go now.”
Her head was throbbing, and she wanted to hurry back to take medicine and get better as soon as possible. And she had stayed inside the fitting room for so long—surely the shop staff already had opinions.
Lu Zhe asked her, “Can you stand?”
Su Ci shook her head. “You support me.” If they weren’t currently in a busy mall with so many people around, Su Ci would’ve shamelessly asked Lu Zhe to carry her on his back.
“Mm.”
Lu Zhe cooperatively helped her up, and Su Ci leaned against his chest without hesitation as they walked out.
Outside, the shop girl had just finished helping another customer and finally saw the fitting room door open.
The handsome boy walked out, half-holding the girl in his arms. The girl wore a hat, revealing only the snowy tip of her nose and her delicate chin.
The shop girl quickly stepped forward. “Is there anything you need help with?” Had this customer suddenly fallen ill?
“I got heatstroke earlier and borrowed your fitting room to rest. Sorry for the trouble,” Su Ci lied effortlessly, without needing to think at all.
The shop girl immediately said, “It’s no problem.” Even with only the lower half of her face showing, the girl was excessively pretty. And seeing how she could barely walk and needed to be held, she clearly was truly unwell.
After leaving the clothing store, Su Ci and Lu Zhe walked toward the first floor of the mall. Diagonally across from the escalator was a children’s specialty store, which happened to be playing a nursery rhyme:
Little bunny, white and white
Two long ears standing upright
Loves carrots and leafy greens, hopping here and there, so cute
Little bunny with long ears, short tail—oh how strange, so very strange…
Hearing such a familiar children’s song suddenly, even Su Ci, with her usually thick skin, couldn’t help blushing.
She lifted her head to look at Lu Zhe—just in time for the young man to lower his gaze. Their eyes met, and she instantly saw the amusement in his eyes.
Su Ci turned her head away angrily, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.
Hah, she was being laughed at.
The little bunny song continued to play, and looking at the girl in his arms with two rabbit ears hidden beneath the hat, the corner of Lu Zhe’s lips lifted, a faint dimple appearing on his left cheek.

They were about to leave the mall when Su Ci suddenly remembered the little boy who had bumped into her earlier.
There were still about ten minutes before he died.
The mall was huge, and every floor had elevators. Su Ci had no way of knowing where to find him. And judging from that middle-aged woman’s personality, even if Su Ci tried to stop them, the woman might blame her for meddling.
Su Ci pressed her lips together.
“Wait a moment.” She had Lu Zhe stop. “I need to make a call.”
Then Lu Zhe watched as Su Ci took out her phone and dialed emergency services. He heard her report that there had been an accident in the mall and someone was gravely injured.
Su Ci quickly hung up. She was not a savior. Just because she wanted to use the golden cotton candy to save Lu Zhe didn’t mean she had to save everyone. She knew her own limits clearly—she was merely a weak girl with devastating beauty.
Fugui had told her the little boy died from falling down the elevator and bleeding too much.
At this moment, the accident had not yet happened. She calculated the time and called the ambulance in advance. By the time the little boy had his accident, the ambulance should have arrived.
Whether the medical staff could save the boy or not depended on fate. This was all she could do.
“Lu Zhe, don’t look at me like that. I can’t tell you anything anyway.”
She knew that making such a call right in front of Lu Zhe would definitely cause his shock and confusion, but there would be more situations like this in the future. It would be difficult to hide it from him for long. Since that was the case, there was no need to exhaust herself covering it up.
Lu Zhe: “Mm.”
Su Ci blinked. “You’re not going to keep asking?”
“Will you tell me?” Lu Zhe looked at her.
“Nope!”

A little over ten minutes later, Su Ci and Lu Zhe had already left the mall.
The distance between the first and second floors of the mall was the tallest, and the escalator there was the longest.
At this moment, the middle-aged woman had both hands full of shopping bags. Muttering curses under her breath, she walked toward the escalator with her son.
What an unlucky day. First, her son bumped into that fox-spirit-like pretty girl, and just now in the supermarket, a shopping cart ran into her and scraped a layer of skin off her heel. She had immediately gotten into a quarrel with the person pushing the cart.
She told her son to get on the escalator first, standing in front of her. She stood behind him with her shopping bags, still cursing nonstop.
The little boy placed his Superman toy on the escalator handrail, letting it move along with it.
The next second, his hand slipped and the toy slid down from the middle of the escalator.
“My Superman…” Seeing the toy fall, the little boy panicked and reached out to grab it. His foot slipped, and his whole body pitched forward, rolling directly down the escalator.
“Son!”
There were no other people on the escalator.
Watching her son fall down, the middle-aged woman let out a heart-tearing scream. She dropped her things and rushed down the steps.
The boy was lying at the base of the escalator, blood slowly seeping from the back of his head.
His head had struck the escalator steps, splitting open a long, deep wound.
“Son, son, don’t scare Mommy…” The woman’s legs went weak as she threw herself forward.
“Don’t move him randomly.” Many shoppers had gathered around, and someone stopped her.
“Help! Please, someone save my son!” The woman, usually fierce and combative when arguing, now had absolutely no sense of control.
“Son, there’s so much blood, so much blood, please save my son…” The woman cried until her voice broke, her hands already stained red.
“Someone call an ambulance.” A bystander suggested.
“Someone already called earlier. But the boy’s face is turning blue. With this much blood loss, if the bleeding isn’t stopped in time, by the time the ambulance gets here… he might not make it.” Someone sighed.
Everyone knew that from the hospital to the mall, even with speeding all the way, it would still take twenty minutes. By then, this little boy would already…
The blood on the floor kept spreading, the boy looking like he would die any moment. The surrounding people all looked pained.
“Is anyone trained in first aid? Please, hurry and help him.”
However, the onlookers were mostly aunties and uncles out for a casual stroll. None of them had learned first aid, and no one dared to step forward.
The middle-aged woman cried loudly and in despair. Her regret was piercing—how had she failed to watch her child, failed to hold his hand, letting him fall from the escalator?
She was so regretful she pounded her own chest.
The mall security staff rushed over as well. One look at the boy’s condition, and their hearts sank.
And then, just as everyone was feeling hopeless for the middle-aged woman, the sound of an ambulance siren rang out from outside the mall entrance.
Who had called the ambulance? How did it arrive so quickly?
Seeing the medical staff suddenly appear, the woman’s tears flowed even harder, fiercer. There was no trace of her earlier arrogance from scolding others.
As for what was happening at the mall, Su Ci didn’t know. She was lying on the bed with a throbbing headache.
“Lu Zhe, I’m hungry.” After running around all morning, her head hurt and her stomach was empty.
Lu Zhe: “I’ll cook some porridge. After you eat, you can take your medicine.”
“I don’t want porridge.” Su Ci looked pitifully at Lu Zhe and began ordering food, “I want mango cake, I want roast duck from that street stall, honey-glazed chicken wings, grilled wings are okay too, and I want crab-roe soup dumplings.”
Normally she didn’t feel this way, but now that she was sick, she suddenly wanted to eat everything.
Lu Zhe lowered his eyes, looking at the girl lying on the bed with her pink-white rabbit ears, chattering nonstop. His cold voice cut her off. “Only plain porridge.”
“I’m a patient right now. Patients are so fragile. Shouldn’t you be fulfilling all my wishes?” Su Ci stared at him with wide, pleading eyes.
Lu Zhe averted his gaze. This girl was too good at using her advantages.
He ignored her requests completely. “Sleep for a while.”
Lu Zhe walked out.
Su Ci was stunned. Was she just… ignored?
Feeling her charm had been challenged, she endured the headache, got up from the bed, and walked to the mirror.
Because of the fever, her snow-white cheeks carried a faint rosy flush, white with hints of red, beautiful from any angle. Her eyes didn’t even need to be mentioned—clear, moist, rippling with light, the tiny tear mole adding to her allure. Add on the rabbit ears sitting on her head—any random expression was ridiculously cute.
Fine. She confirmed once again that Lu Zhe had terrible eyesight and questionable taste.
When Lu Zhe returned, Su Ci was already asleep.
He stood beside the bed. His originally cool, quiet room now carried a soft girl’s scent. His desk and surroundings were filled with many of Su Ci’s things. The place had turned into a young girl’s boudoir.
He looked at Su Ci on the bed—her eyes closed, her rabbit ears drooping softly on both sides, her appearance unusually obedient and peaceful.
He reached out, intending to wake her so she could eat.
But his fingertips, as if with a mind of their own, landed on the girl’s pink-white rabbit ear.
Soft, nice to touch.
Lu Zhe’s lips curled faintly, letting the white fur brush against his palm, making it itch.
Su Ci was awakened by Lu Zhe calling her. She opened her eyes groggily, her head aching.
Lu Zhe asked her calmly, “The porridge is ready. Do you want to eat in the room, or in the living room?”
“I don’t want to move.” Su Ci said weakly.
Lu Zhe didn’t know where he had gotten it, but he brought over a small bed table—the kind used for laptops—placed it properly, then came in carrying the freshly cooked porridge.
Su Ci had originally planned to put up a fight and refuse the plain porridge. But when she saw the corn and mushrooms in the bowl, along with a bit of minced meat, the porridge simmered until soft and fragrant, she silently began to eat.
She had to admit, Lu Zhe’s cooking skills were excellent. Even with how picky Su Ci was, she liked eating whatever he made.
Su Ci “smelled good, tasted good” and finished the entire bowl.
Leaning against the headboard, she looked at Lu Zhe with her black eyes. “Lu Zhe, I want to drink water.”
After clearing the bowl and the small table, Lu Zhe poured her a cup of warm water and handed the medicine to her along with it.
Su Ci obediently took the medicine. Looking at the cold-faced boy standing beside her, she spoke again: “Lu Zhe, I feel a bit hot. Help me turn on the air conditioner.”
Lu Zhe walked to the air conditioner, raised his hand to feel the temperature, then adjusted it to 27 degrees—just right.
“Lu Zhe, I want to eat peaches.” Su Ci made another request.
Lu Zhe glanced at her. The girl met his gaze with innocent little eyes.
He didn’t say a word and walked out. After a while, he returned with a plate of neatly and evenly sliced peaches, with a small fork placed on top.
After finishing the peaches, Su Ci felt satisfied. She looked again at Lu Zhe beside her. The boy, wearing his white-and-blue school uniform, had a cold, sharp face and a tall figure—handsome from every angle, every part exactly to Su Ci’s liking.
Her red lips curved as she made another unreasonable request: “Lu Zhe, I want to kiss you.”
Worried he wouldn’t cooperate, Su Ci added, “Just one kiss, and I’ll rest.”
Meeting her eyes, Lu Zhe let out a sigh. He leaned down, his thin lips touching the girl’s slightly glossy red lips, brushing her sweet scent. A light kiss, then he pulled away. “Hurry and sleep.”
Su Ci’s eyes lit up.
She mischievously asked, “Lu Zhe, since you kissed me, will you catch my virus?” She shook her head and answered herself, “Oh, probably not, since we didn’t exchange saliva.”
Lu Zhe gave her a long, quiet look, then turned and walked out.
The door closed, and Su Ci broke into a smile, her rabbit ears swaying, swaying—looking exactly like a naughty little rogue rabbit spirit.
Lu Zhe had just stepped out into the living room when the doorbell rang.
He opened the door and saw Zhao Youyou standing outside.
