Lu Zhe’s brows tightened.
Su Ci watched his expression and spoke weakly, “If it’s not far, I… I can hold on for a while.”
No, she didn’t want to walk at all.
Su Ci had been raised delicately before, but she had never been this delicate. Now that she had changed into this body, it made her both love and hate it.
Lu Zhe withdrew his gaze, “No need, let’s take a taxi.”
The midday sunlight was scorching. After getting out of the car, Su Ci felt the heat rush toward her. She followed Lu Zhe into a small nearby mall.
There weren’t many people shopping. With Lu Zhe and Su Ci’s outstanding looks, walking through the mall drew attention immediately, making passersby turn their heads again and again.
The first floor of the mall was filled with specialty stores selling cosmetics and accessories. The two of them went up to the second floor.
“Let’s buy a pair of shoes first.”
The white cloth shoes Lu Zhe had bought for Su Ci were size 39, clearly not suitable for her. And with how delicate she was, she couldn’t wear shoes of that quality at all.
Su Ci nodded and followed Lu Zhe into a women’s shoe boutique.
A saleswoman came up with a bright smile. “Welcome, is there anything I can help you with?”
Lu Zhe said, “Pick a pair of shoes for her. The material needs to be soft.”
It was the first time the saleswoman had seen such a handsome guy. Her eyes lit up. Then she looked at the girl beside him and was instantly stunned — the girl was so exquisitely beautiful that one couldn’t look away.
The saleswoman nearly lost her soul staring. “This way, please.”
She picked up a pair of recently trendy sandals with crystal sequins embedded in them. “This style is very fashionable, it’s a big hit this year. Miss, would you like to try it?”
Lu Zhe saw that the sandals had heels and frowned. “Not suitable for her. No heels.” She could get blisters even from cloth shoes, anything with heels was even less suitable.
Su Ci also shook her head. To her, the style of those shoes wasn’t pretty at all.
“This pair is flat. It’s been selling very well recently, and the sole is quite soft.” The saleswoman picked up another pair, pink patent leather shoes with a big bow on the front.
Lu Zhe took the shoes, pinched the sole, and said lightly, “The sole isn’t soft enough.”
The saleswoman was stunned. This sole wasn’t soft enough? Customers usually chose shoes based on style. It was rare for someone to pick only by how soft the sole was.
She had no choice but to go to another shoe rack. She brought back another pair. “These just arrived this morning. The soles are definitely soft enough.”
Lu Zhe took them, pinched the sole, then bent the shoe before handing it to Su Ci. “Try this one.”
Su Ci looked at the pair of off-white flats in his large hand. The design was simple. She had no objections.
“Miss, what shoe size do you wear?” the saleswoman asked Su Ci.
Su Ci wasn’t sure what her current size was. Judging based on what she remembered before, “Around size 36.”
“Perfect, these are size 36.”
The saleswoman set the shoes down and prepared to help her put them on. When she saw the girl take off a loose cloth shoe and stretch out her foot—
Having served so many female customers, it was the first time she had seen such beautiful feet: small and delicate, the toes round and cute, making her want to kneel down and help her put the shoes on!
Su Ci tried them on. The size fit, and both the sole and the material wrapping her foot were very light and very soft.
Lu Zhe asked her, “Do you want this pair?”
Su Ci shook her head. She walked to his side, rose slightly on her toes, leaned close to his ear, and said softly, “This pair of shoes isn’t cheap.”
She had looked at the price tag — 600 yuan.
Before, even shoes priced in the seven figures wouldn’t have caught Su Ci’s eye. But now it was different. She was living under someone else’s roof. Lu Zhe was an orphan, a high schooler living in an old neighborhood, and he had to take medicine every day. How could he possibly have money?
Su Ci had accidentally overheard the servants at home chatting. They said men cared about their pride. She lowered her voice and said to Lu Zhe, “Let’s look at the others.”
The girl suddenly leaned close, her warm breath brushing the back of his ear — a little ticklish.
Lu Zhe lowered his eyes and asked her, “Does the size fit?”
“Perfectly.”
“Mm.” Lu Zhe told the saleswoman to ring it up.
“Lu Zhe?” Su Ci was a little surprised. Six hundred yuan wasn’t a small amount for him.
Hearing the surprise in her tone, Lu Zhe curled his lips. “I can afford it.”
Hearing that, Su Ci met his gaze and didn’t say anything more.
Since Lu Zhe was willing to buy them for her, she naturally wouldn’t refuse. After all, these shoes suited her and were much more comfortable than the cloth ones from before.
Wearing her comfortable new shoes, Su Ci followed Lu Zhe into a women’s clothing store.
She was beautiful, with a delicate and curvy figure — she looked good in anything. The shop staff showered her with compliments as if they were free, constantly calling her pretty.
Su Ci summoned Fugui and told it to learn more.
Fugui: 【Fugui has already learned quite a lot recently.】 Since its master liked hearing compliments, it had to work hard at studying them.
Su Ci picked several outfits, all choosing softer fabrics. They were definitely not cheap, but Lu Zhe didn’t object. He quietly paid for everything.
Before, Su Ci always swiped her own card when buying things. Now she finally understood why women liked having men pay. There was no other reason, it just felt good.
She stood aside waiting and asked Fugui what it had learned.
Fugui’s little milky voice trembled excitedly: 【Master, your eyes are as black as grapes, your face as pointed as a melon seed, your lips as red as cherries, your hair like a waterfall…】
Su Ci almost choked listening. “You can shut up now!”
A big melon seed with two grapes and a cherry on it?
What kind of monstrosity was that?!
Fugui felt wronged — weren’t humans supposed to like compliments like that?
Seeing that Lu Zhe had finished paying, Su Ci ignored Fugui and walked to his side. “For the money we spent today, I’ll pay you back. I won’t let you lose out.”
Lu Zhe gave her a faint glance. “Do whatever you want.”
Next, Su Ci needed to buy underwear. Since Lu Zhe was going to pay for her, she pulled him into the store with her.
Su Ci’s requirements for underwear were even higher than for clothes. Since it was something worn close to the body, it had to be comfortable.
She didn’t know her current bust size, so she needed to try it on. Picking up a white lingerie set, she walked toward the fitting room. “Lu Zhe, wait for me outside.”
Su Ci closed the fitting-room door.
After a while, she extended her hand through the gap between the door and the frame. “Lu Zhe, this one doesn’t fit. Ask the clerk to bring me a bigger size.”
Lu Zhe looked over and saw the girl’s pink-white fingertips holding the white lingerie she had taken in earlier, the edges decorated with small lace.
He looked away instead of approaching and told the saleswoman to go help.
Inside the fitting room, Su Ci received the larger size and changed into it. She lowered her head to look at her overly prominent curves. Tsk — she had really underestimated her own figure.
Su Ci stepped out of the fitting room and saw Lu Zhe standing where he was, his face stiff and cold, not the least bit flustered by her teasing.
“I’m done changing.”
Su Ci had not only changed into the underwear but also put on the new dress she bought today. Compared to wearing Lu Zhe’s loose, ill-fitting clothes, this was much more pleasing to the eye and made her feel secure.
The light smoky-purple dress made Su Ci’s skin look like snow — beautiful and captivating. Just a slight lift of her eyes was enough to make someone lose their senses.
There was a mirror in the fitting room, and Su Ci herself was very satisfied with how she looked.
“Lu Zhe, do I look good?” Su Ci wasn’t shy at all and asked the boy directly.
Lu Zhe didn’t answer her question. He glanced at the time. “After we finish eating, I’ll give you money for a taxi back. I still have class this afternoon.”
“Alright.” Su Ci answered obediently.
During lunch, Su Ci ate with great enthusiasm. She had eaten rabbit food for so long — now that she could finally eat human food, she had been craving it for ages.
Across from her, Lu Zhe poured a cup of tea and placed it by her hand. “Are you full?”
Su Ci’s black eyes shone. “I’m full.”
Lu Zhe took out a hundred-yuan bill and handed it to her. “Take a taxi back later. Do you know the address of the neighborhood?”
“I know.” The first time she ran out in human form, she had taken note of the street signs nearby.
“After school I have to work at the computer shop. For dinner, you can cook something yourself or eat outside.” Lu Zhe gave her another hundred yuan.
Looking at the money in her hand, Su Ci suddenly felt a little sorry for him.
At his age, other kids were still the pampered treasures of their families, only needing to worry about studying. But Lu Zhe had long stepped into society early, studying while working.
And now he had her, a troublesome burden who was expensive to keep.
Truly, a little pitiful.
After leaving the restaurant, Lu Zhe was about to go, but Su Ci quickly grabbed him. “Lu Zhe, you can’t leave yet. You forgot something very important.”
Lu Zhe looked at her.
“You forgot to kiss me.”
When she woke up last night, it was past one. Lu Zhe had kissed her once — one hour more than six hours, so that made seven hours. After she woke up, she had been fuzzy and kissed him again — that made eight hours, totaling fifteen hours.
She counted on her beautiful fingers for him. “Starting from 1 a.m., I’ll turn back into a rabbit at 4 p.m. this afternoon. That won’t do, Lu Zhe. You need to kiss me more.”
Lu Zhe remembered her telling him last night that she turned human because he kissed her.
Her tugging pulled at his shirt hem. She dragged him to the corner near the restroom. At this hour, there weren’t many people in the hallway.
Then he saw Su Ci blink and ask him, “Are you going to kiss me, or should I kiss you? Either way works the same.”
The girl’s black eyes shone as she looked at him, without a hint of shyness.
Lu Zhe didn’t move.
“Hurry, hurry, while no one’s here. Otherwise people will come later.” Su Ci urged him, afraid he would refuse to kiss her.
Su Ci knew how difficult Lu Zhe was to approach. She was clearly prettier than a fox spirit, yet she had to worry that the boy in front of her wouldn’t kiss her. She was too miserable!
After a long moment, Lu Zhe sighed.
He reached out his big hand, and his cold palm suddenly fell over Su Ci’s eyes, covering those overly bright, crystalline pupils.
Su Ci froze for a second, then cooperatively closed her eyes.
She felt a cool touch over her eyelids.
The next second, something lightly tapped her lips.
Soft and cold.
Just a gentle touch.
Then Lu Zhe’s deep, clear voice sounded beside her ear. “Is that enough?”
Su Ci quickly shook her head, greedy. “Not enough. Kiss me a few more times.”
Lu Zhe’s hand covering her trembled.
His cold lips fell on Su Ci’s red lips again, once more just a light touch before pulling away.
Utterly gentlemanly.
